Shoes for autumn for mum

Hi, looking for shoes for my 80 but looks 65 mum. What's the look this season? Needs to be sensible and flat but not boring. Something between a trainer and a shoe perhaps?

She's had a few nasty falls and fractures so I'm trying to steer her towards something sturdy yet stylish that will go with trousers and leggings. I'd say most of her clothes are from M&S and Fat Face. She's lived the summer in cropped linen trousers, sandals and floaty tops. Winter she likes tunics and leggings or trousers and jumpers. If that helps! She certainly does t dress like she's 80 and has pinched my hoodies on a Regular basis! She's not got lots to spend but would be happy to pay more for the right shoes.

I’m on my second pair of these. They’re super comfortable for walking, the velcro strap holds them firmly on your feet and the crepe sole is nice and grippy. Not glamourous, but less bulky than a trainer.

For winter something like this?

I also have a pair like these, although a different brand, which look good with leggings. The bit of silver adds some interest.

Watching with interest - I broke my foot last year and also need suitable sensible shoes

What's she like with laces and buckles?

Does she want soles with a good grip?

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 31/08/2019 18:01

Buckles no but laces are ok. Good grip definitely.

Try Clarks. They're comfortable and generally have a range of casual shoes, so something might appeal.

I would get Chelsea boots with a crepe sole or if you want a more trainer style something like this

Thanks everyone. She's decided on a pair of Skechers. They are very her. She'll get a pair of ankle boots too later on.

Sketchers are comfortable but if you are walking a lot they aren’t supportive and I found my feet were really painful wearing them on a city break.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 01/09/2019 09:32

Really? I walk 5 miles plus a day in mine and find them great. She's had a few pairs of Skechers and loves them. She was just thinking of shoes which is why she didn't think of new Skechers.
