I've just booked breast augmentation surgery for a couple of months time, its something I've wanted done for years and after having breastfed my child and been left with empty boobs I've finally booked it.

What are your top tips for before and after the surgery?

FYI - I will be telling no one apart from my husband so any tips on keeping it this way would be great!

I don't know any tips to give but I am jealous, I have been considering this for the same reason (well similar, 3 months exclusively breastpumping and since stopping they are smaller than ever!!!). Hope it goes well xx

Get as fit as possible beforehand, no point in having lovely tits and s big belly to rest them on. Also use facial skin products and sunscreen on the décolletage area that skin needs lots of extra love before and after surgery

Shock absorber ultimate run sports bra for afterwards. Get them to put it on you after surgery.

If your a smoke make sure you stop, this is imperative to healing.

Yes to skincare to chest.

Lots of nighties, full frontal button opening tops as you may struggle to lift your arms over your head for a week or so.

Best money I ever spent on myself. Wish I'd done it in my twenties x

Which surgeon have you gone for? I went with John Murphy in Manchester.

Inliverpool1 · 31/08/2019 16:27

@ifeelgreat are you pleased ? Do kind of I ask ball park price ? Mine need redoing after 11 years and my previous surgeon has moved on

Sallyseagull · 31/08/2019 18:53

The chest skincare I hadn't even thought of, thank you. Same for button/zip tops. I had thought of wearing my husbands zip up hoodies for a week or so but realistically I cant live in them forever or sleep in them so need pjs. Itll be winter when I have the procedure so I will get button up tops and jumpers.

Since booking the op I've changed my diet as I really feel I've got something to work towards, I've cut back on alcohol and dont smoke anyway. I dont want to lose lots of weight, half a stone perhaps but I just wanted to be healthier than I have been recently.

My surgeon provides the sports bra style bras for after surgery which is handy as that's one less thing for me to think of and potentially get wrong.

@ifeelgreat - I've gone for someone on Harley Street in London, highly recommended by a friend who is extremely happy with her results and both she and I are more than happy with the surgeon's credentials and portfolio of work (if it's ok to call it that?!).

I'm nervous and excited at the same time, I've wanted this for years so I can hardly believe it's actually happening, it's so difficult to not tell any of my close friends but, for now at least, I'd like to keep it to myself as I'm really not doing it for anyone else but me.

Oh, sorry, I've got another question...

I will go in in the morning and recover in the afternoon, apparently leave hospital at about 5 or 6pm. W
I cant decide whether to have my husband wait around with me all day or just come and pick me up after. What do you all think?

@Inliverpool1 about 4.5k but that was 4 years ago now.

Re in and out the same day? Are you over the muscle? In so ok, but under you'll be in pain. I was 1 nights in hospital on morphine, sent home on something similar

Palaver1 · 03/09/2019 06:24

Let him pick you up after.
Best to spend the next day at home with you if needed

florriepeck · 03/09/2019 09:54

Google breast buddies boob job support forum: not really any current activity, but lots of really helpful advice on there.
I had BA and uplift last year, and I spent hours on that site pre and post op!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 03/09/2019 14:58

Does your surgeon recommend you sleep sitting up afterwards? If so you may need a V pillow. I had unders and was out the same day. The painkillers (diclofenac I think - it was 13 years ago now so I can't remember) made me really sick so I didn't take them and had no issue with pain. I second front fastening tops.
