I saw this in Savers the other day and knew I had read about it on here. What does it do and what is it good for?

It’s meant to be good for spots if you dab a diluted solution as it is very antibacterial (dilute because it dries skin and too strong anyway). Also supposedly good to apply neat very regularly on nail fungus infection to clear it. Can also be used (diluted I think) as a disinfectant around the house.
I personally don’t mind the smell although it is very strong. However it did nothing for spots whenever I tried it in the past. Loads of people can’t live without the stuff, I am not impressed with it, still have a bottle somewhere bought 10 years ago.
Make sure you buy the proper stuff from somewhere like Holland & Barret as not everything is pure or the right concentration.

The only thing we use it neat on is cat scratches, takes the pain away almost instantly.

I think it’s too strong for use neat on the face.

I do use neat on the face and have never had any issues but may be too strong for others. I use for spots, athletes foot or minor cuts.

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/08/2019 09:43

I use it on mozzie bites and cold sores.

BigcatLittlecat · 31/08/2019 09:45

I put a couple of drops in my shampoo once a week to help prevent nits!

Spoonsmum · 31/08/2019 09:46

Add to shampoo to help avoid nits, and diluted as a face cleanser

Be careful using on kids!
Great natural antiseptic.

It’s a great antiseptic but very strong - do not apply it neat to your skin.

Best use of it for parents is as a preventative measure for lice - they hate it, I used to put a few drops on my daughters’ hair brushes so it would get brushed through their hair daily.

I also treated a stubborn verruca with it and it killed it within a week or two. Just applied it neat directly, using a cotton bud.

Tea Tree oil is one of the best oils to diffuse to help kill airborne bacteria.

If you add Lemon oil it strengthens the anti-viral properties, plus smells
better. Lavender can also be added to tea tree to soften the blend.

Both are great where someone has a cold or flu. You can also add it to steam water for inhalations just 4 drops.

I like an organic soil association Tea Tree that is steam distilled from the leaves such as Absolute-aromas.

I have heard from a ‘friend’ that it’s great for fungal nails. Also good for itchy scalps

SuzieQ10 · 31/08/2019 18:39

Can be very drying if used in shampoo. But can help protect against nits. I just love the smell! Wish I could use the shampoo more but it is no good for my hair. I use pure tea tree as an antiseptic too.

Body shop do an entire range of tea tree based products.
