What's the magic acne cream recommended on here a lot?

Not the La Roche Posey one but one you need to ask a pharmacist for. My skin is just HORRID just now with sore angry bumps along my jaw. I suspect it's my pill but i cant get an appointment to discuss it.

Unashamedly marking my place for the magic cream reveal.

Butterflycookie · 28/08/2019 19:56

Epiduo but you need to ask the doctor to prescribe it

Acnecide?

ParadiseLaundry · 28/08/2019 20:15

Yes, I think it's Benzoyl Peroxide (Acnecide) although if the spots are on your jawline it sounds like hormonal acne and in my experience it's a bit less effective on there than the acne on the rest of your face. Worth a try though!

BunchMunch · 28/08/2019 20:17

I use Panoxyl 10 cream for hormonal acne. Works a treat. Can buy it from pharmacies.

Plump82 · 28/08/2019 20:23

Yes! Acnecide. Thank you! It's got to the stage ill try anything until I can get to the doctors.

Acnecide works quite well, make sure you rub it in to the main spots well, wait half an hour at least and use a light moisturiser, be careful not to use around the eye area as you could transfer the Acnecide and it will make the skin round your eyes VERY sore! That's my experience with it anyway! (this is what it suggests on the Acne.org website)

Soola · 28/08/2019 21:27

@BunchMunch Panoxyl has been discontinued for ages!

Where have you purchased yours from?

Another cheap suggestion I found helped a lot (often recommended on here) is hibiscrub. Dilute it with water and wash your face with it twice a day. Made a huge difference for me!

EnidButton · 29/08/2019 01:44

Undiluted hibi scrub just on the spots and rinsed off is good at calming down inflammation. Don't use it anywhere near your eyes, nose or ears. It's pre surgical scrub or used by vets! Does help though.

MrMeSeeks · 29/08/2019 01:46

I used la roche posay and avene. ( facewash, toner and cream) my friend recommended them, she had bad skin for years and years (me also) id even tried the cream you listed
After using these my spots were gone.

EnidButton · 29/08/2019 01:47

And when you do find something to heal them, if they leave a red mark or get to that crusty/dry stage and hang around, La Roche Posay Cicaplast b5 baume is excellent for reducing redness and speeding up the healing process. Holy grail level good.

Although with cystic acne I found they never got to that stage. Just stayed as painful lumps under the skin. Def get your contraception checked/changed if you think that's the culprit.

thisisallnewtome8 · 29/08/2019 02:05

Ask your GP for Duac.

I have just started using acne patches for the hormonal type pimples I get on my chin. I am amazed at how well they work. I had one come up on Sunday and it is now gone on Wednesday.

CremeDeSudo · 29/08/2019 11:27

Ah yes the patches are surprisingly good too!

Unfortunately, none of this worked for the cystic types. I'm on antibiotics now, hopefully the Dr will sort you out OP!

teta · 29/08/2019 11:45

Epiduo and Differin are pretty good.

Plump82 · 29/08/2019 19:47

I've bought come acnecide so we'll see how i get on with it.
Thanks for all the other suggestions. I'll keep them in mind if this cream doesnt work.

I put Sudocrem on my spots and spot scars and it did seem to help! Using tea tree face wash seems to keep it at bay too, my skin's never looked this good!
