I'm 51, scrawny and haggard, grey at the front, salt and pepper down the sides and still dark brown at the back. Naturally wavy with frizz (gets GHD-d a lot)
I'm staying natural..grew out all my colour 3 years ago and would like to be all silver one day!
Dh says 'chop it off'
DD2 says 'don't chop it you always regret it, just get a fringe'
My Mother feels I'm getting on a bit for long hair...
I have no idea what I want and have pinterested til my eyes are squiffy!

I'd like to have the guts to go short, but last time I did I hated it..hence the dangly hair now!

I also have NO idea what suits me!!!

Any suggestions gratefully received!

I think longish bob with layers for more volume.

Clayplease · 27/08/2019 16:55

I like it as it is!

lindyloo57 · 27/08/2019 17:47

I am 59 hair just like yours, I like it as it is. I would never go short, I did it once when I turned 40 new grandchild, and thought I should cut my hair, biggest mistake, never again, I think it suits you fine.

XingMing · 27/08/2019 20:10

I think you look okay, but I 'd be cutting my hair to just below earlobe level and emphasising the length and elegance of your neckline to make it much much more modern.

Hi, I'm a hairdresser with over 30yrs experience. I would not go for the lob as they are a lot of styling work as are Fringes.
I would cut a good couple of inches of your length to lift it and put a long shattered layer through it, the longer the layers with your hair type the easier they are to manage. A full fringe is daily work but a soft side fringe would lift you and blend into the rest of style when you want it to. You also need to use the right products to control your hair type and ask your hairdresser for some industry tips on how to blow dry your style correctly but to fit in with your lifestyle. X

Anniecott that's a really nice informative post.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 27/08/2019 20:44

I actually like it the way it is OP. Maybe a couple of inches off as PP suggested. You have lovely skin Smile

TheWashingMachine · 27/08/2019 22:24

I'd go for a sharpish, silky bob with a heavy fringe, none of this side fringe, I like a very definite haircut.

Cbawy · 28/08/2019 01:16

A few inches off (long lob Grin ) but cut quite blunt/sharp then soften the effect with a side sweep fringe.

Don't go short whatever you decide to do - you'll regret it.

StillMedusa · 28/08/2019 16:09

I chickened out in the end.. got a few inches off the bottom and a side fringe (that will need training) but I'm happy with it for now!
