Help please beachy waves for bobbed hair?

I’m fed up of straightening my bobbed hair, it looks so eurgh recently!
I want to create a softer style if that makes sense like beachy waves. I literally want minimal effort but to still look nice. I can’t just blow dry it as it’s just wild & frizzy. I’ve two small children & a new job starting next week so will have really early starts so I don’t want to be spending loads of time on my hair.
I’ve tried a few sea salt sprays in the past but they just ended up making my hair look a frizzy mess. Confused

Any tips please?

Can you put it in two french plaits and leave overnight? With a bit of salt spray that should give a nice natural wave

Hollylolly28 · 24/08/2019 22:15

In use l'oreal straightening spray when blow drying so my hair drys pretty smooth then use straighters to put waves in then hair spray or salt spray. (my hair is frizzy and mad if I just blow/air dry so I think you need a straight ish base to start with)

There are quite a few YouTube videos showing you how to do beach waves on short hair. They all use a heated curling tong/pole (?) And then add the salt spray.
I have tried the spray without heated device (as i havent git one) and, whilst it looks ok for a short time, it does get pretty messy and frizzy after a few hours.
If you have a bit of a natural wave in your hair, have you tried scrunch-drying damp hair with mousse, then blowdrying it though a diffuser on your hairdryer? That's probably quicker than the curling tong malarkey.

My hair is too short applepineapple plus I don’t think I could do a french plait on myself either.

Look into the Curly Girl Method. I'm guessing your hair must have some Kind of wave if you're straightening it? Basically, you need products with no sulphates or silicones (I think), some people wash with conditioner only but looser curl/wave types you can use a natural shampoo, dry with a microfiber towel or turban as normal towels create frizz. That's a really condensed summary but look at some before/after pics, makes such a difference to your hair. I had annoying half waves before but now I know how to properly moisturise and manage them they're lovely fizz free waves/curls.

That’s the way I tried Rathkelter the spray with no heat my hair turned into a awful mess a few hours later.
I have scrunched my hair a few times I just don’t like how it comes out. Hair usually turns out crispy or goes frizzy in places.

Maybe I should look into a tong...how would I know what size to buy?

I’ve heard of this curly girl method a few times on here but never really paid any attention to it - will have a look at it.

I curl mine with ghds, just take small sections and wrap it around.

Hi I got my long heavy frizzy hair cut into a short bob with the underneath shaved. My hairdresser recommended this wella mousse. I use it on wet hair and it gives it a better curl that holds and it dries. So you done have wet look curls

Try the curl cream from boots. Lightly towel dry your hair, tip your head upside down and scrunch the cream into it. Keep scrunching the curls and then let it dry. If it goes a bit crispy then you just break the cast by scrunching again or use a hair dryer very lightly.

I use L'Oreal Spray Gel (Extreme I think) on damp hair and twist chunks of hair and then clip it up in a kind of curl.

If I leave it to dry naturally, just shoving my hands through it will go how I like it as it has a wave, however it goes frizzy in humidity and will go straight at the front but not at the back during the course of a morning so I either have to do the above or dry it straight.

Use thise foam rollers and blast with a dryer

DontCallMeShitley · 24/08/2019 22:47

BTW if you don't have a hot curler/straightener you can use a round brush, like people used to before all the hot things were promoted. What I have used to be called curling tongs, a metal stick with a clamp to keep the hair in place while you burn it to a crisp.

Seas salt spray. Wash. Spray. Crunch. Easiest hair ever.

Google donut curls ( aka using a plastic donut bun you can buy for £1). Rolling your hair in one ( or two) gives fab curls. I dry, roll, breakfast, unroll. Easy and very effective.
