Phillips Lumea

Does anyone have any experience of using one of these? Is it worth the money? I have 3 dds, only one is happy with waxing, the other two use cream which is messy, expensive and the results don't last long.

Phillips Lumea is permanent hair removal, right? Like laser treatment?

I have a Remington IPL device. I love it. I shave once a week and then ipl it (you have to do it with shaved hairs, not cream removal or wax) it takes a lot of treatments to get fully hairless. I would say at 10-15 of doing it religiously weekly to the area.

For teens I would only say it is suitable for legs first, then brave the arm pits if they want that. I would recommend getting safety glasses too and supervise it's use. Because it is permanent I would recommend not using it on the pubic area as that hair serves some function that they may change their minds on hair growth their, although it is good for bikini lines to neaten things up. I also get rid of unwanted facial hair (below cheeks only)

You can only use them if you have fair-medium skin and dark-medum hair because of how the light energt is absorbed. It also stings (little hot zaps) on more sensitive areas, but the sting goes after a second.

For 3 to use, very cost effective. I'm intending to sell mine once I'm finished with it to recoup a decent amount.

I brought mine about 7 years ago so the technology may have advanced since then but it didn't do anything for me at all. However I have very blonde hair and I think it works best on dark hair

I didn’t think about buying a second hand one.....

@LoopyLu2019 is the Remington a similar device?

I am a big advocate of mine! I bought the Lumea Prestige in March for £300 on offer. This one:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BHX2Y3P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8
It's gone up in price now, but I think you can get cheaper ones. My advice would be don't pay more for a cordless one as it will run out of change quickly if you use it cordless so it's pointless. I'm not sure the different attachments make much difference either. I don't see why you couldn't do everything with just one normal attachment & one curved one if you need it for bikini area & underarm.

I have dark hair and pale skin so am a prime candidate. It works really well but doesn't 100% eradicate hair. I have a few stragglers.

I was chatting to a colleague about it yesterday and we had a look at my armpit & could only see a few, very short hairs if you looked hard. Same for my legs. And my bikini line has no stragglers (I didn't show her that though Grin )

I literally only have to run a razor over my underarm and legs every couple of weeks to catch the odd hair. It's brilliant.

If three of you are using it it will be very cost effective.

Yes just a different brand.

LaVieilleHarpie · 23/08/2019 15:11

Mine works like a charm. Complete game changer.

I'm still not totally hairless, but week by week the amount of growth is reducing. It's actually funny to see odd patches of hairs in my armpit/pubic area. And then bald patches everywhere. My legs are practically totally smooth by now, by far the most responsive.

I'm pale with brownish hairs btw.

EVERYONE needs a Lumea

I got the most basic one on Amazon. It was about £120. It’s made a lot of difference to my facial hair, so worth it for me.
