So I'm off shopping soon and I'm desperate to sort my hair out.
My hair was previously thick (almost unruly!) and has always been wavy. I've always straightened it and it hasn't seemed to mind and remained thick and strong!
I'm now peri menopausal and my hair looks awful Sad It's lank, thinning and I'm so down about how I look because of it. I think it's breaking off because it doesn't seem to grow anymore and if anything it's getting shorter!
I know I probably need to get vitamin levels etc checked but is there a short term option too, any miracle shampoos or treatments etc that anyone recommends? I seriously need cheering up, the menopause sucks!!!

You could try biotin capsules but that might take a few months. There are some thickening shampoos out there but not sure if the brands. I managed to get mine thicker by being pregnant Confused that's not helpful though sorry!

Not an option sadly I'm 47 and had my womb removed many years ago Grin
I'll have a look at biotin, thank you!

Yup get all the supplements in. I keep meaning to take biotin myself.

Also go to a decent hairdresser, preferably recommended by someone who has thin hair but looks good. The hairdresser should help you style it so it looks better - blunt cuts etc. Also consider extensions. They don't need to be those horrible weave things but you can have subtle sections put in to put some volume in. Hopefully someone with more knowledge about those will be along to advise soon

Are you still using the same products? You may need to adapt them to suit your hair type.

Also consider seeing the gp for a bit of an MOT. I think things like anaemia or vitamin deficiencies can make thinning worse so it might be worth ruling that out too x

Yes definitely a blunt cut - mine had layers and was so wispy towards the ends. Now it's cut bluntly and regularly and it looks so much thicker
