Little holes in T-shirt from belt

Hi,

About half of my T-shirts have tiny holes in them around the belly button area. I live in jeans and it seems to be from my belt rubbing them.

Anyone had a similar problem and have you found a belt that didn't cause this issue?

Watching as this constantly happens to my tops as well 😣

buzzkills · 18/08/2019 13:16

Do you wear belts a lot too?

I've found a product that covers the metal button on jeans with a soft rubber and it stops the holes occurring if they are being caused by the button. But sadly mine are being caused by my belt and I'm very apple shaped so a belt is required daily

Car seatbelts usually end up being the culprit with this, do you both spend a fair bit of time in the car?

buzzkills · 18/08/2019 13:20

Hmm I am in the car daily but it's just a short drive. I suppose it could be be seat belt tho.

Any tips on how to avoid it?

I had this a lot but no longer since getting a slim belt from M and S.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 18/08/2019 14:29

i find this happens becuase I lean against the worktops when doing stuff in the kitchen, and the button from my jeans sort of rubs through. Same with or without belt.

I need to learn to stand up straight Grin

You can get the seatbelt pads from places like Halfords, they're meant to go at the top to cushion the bit that can cut into your shoulder but I would have thought they'd work for the lap strap too. Or a small towel would work, pop on your lap, put on seat belt and flip over to cover the sharp edge.

Duchessofealing · 18/08/2019 14:40

Where did you get the button cover from please buzzkills? I have this on all my t-shirts and never wear a belt. Thank you!

Biancadelrioisback · 18/08/2019 14:42

I always wear a belt and this happens to me! Following to see if anyone has any tips

BertBox · 18/08/2019 22:32

I've never worn a belt, and used to have this on all my tops. I've given up wearing jeans now, and no tops I've bought since have had this happen. Mystery solved (I hope).

buzzkills · 27/08/2019 20:21

@Duchessofealing sorry I haven't actually purchased any of them, I just found them on google the other week. If you google "Jean button hole cover" several options come up

I don’t wear belts and this happens to me! I thought it was linked to jeans in some way.

RezCowgirl · 27/08/2019 20:33

Tuck your shirt in.

PotatoesPastaAndBread · 27/08/2019 20:34

I get this and i don't drive or go in a car much so i don't think it's that

Finding a less sharp edged belt is the best I've managed!

buzzkills · 27/08/2019 20:43

I can't tuck my shirts in really due a c section shelf tucked in looks awful on me

Yes I'm starting to think it's jeans in general not just the belt. I'm looking to stop wearing jeans so often and have just posted asking for other ideas on what to wear instead of jeans.

I've lived in jeans for 25 years... sob!

Thanks buzzkills - I will investigate!

Oldraver · 27/08/2019 21:41

You either need a style of belt without the buckle it turn the buckle over so the pin is to the back

Strawberrycreamsundae · 27/08/2019 21:43

I rarely wear belts so I think it's the metal button on jeans that's doing it. Highly irritating!

Tryingtogetitright · 28/08/2019 07:35

I often wear a belt slightly to the side (so instead of the buckle being above the zip it's one belt loop to the left). Might help? Or might just give you holes in a different place but could be worth a try?
