Footwear for a wet UK holiday

We are going to Norfolk for a week from next Saturday. At the moment the forecast looks like rain, rain and yet more rain. I'm not sure what to wear on my feet. Today, I have worn 2 different pairs of trainers and ended up with soaking feet within 10 minutes, so that's no good for a whole day out. In the winter, I wear boots or trainers if it's wet, and also don't go out much.

What can I buy to wear with cotton chino-ish trousers? I can't believe I'm so clueless, but practical dressing has never been my strong point.

Go to an outdoor gear shop. Get some decent walking or welly boots and also some waterproof trousers. The broads must be full of such shops.

I wear leather trainers in wet weather and usually manage to keep my feet dry.

I love my duck boots but it might be the wrong time of year to buy them.

Mountain Warehouse seem to be having some sort of big clearance sale at the moment. Get some lightweight waterproof trousers, maybe the kind that have a zip-off lower leg so they can be turned into shorts, and some walking boots or shoes. Wellies aren't great if you're planning on doing much walking and they make your feet sweat something rotten. Proper walking boots should be breathable so you can wear them in warm but wet weather.

Gortex trainers will keep your feet dry.

I've been wearing my saltwater sandals through all the rain. It doesn't damage them to get wet, and them and my feet dry quick. I'd rather have wet feet which you can towel off than soggy trainers.

I've got these which kept my feet dry in North Wales last week - I sprayed them with spray-on waterproofing treatment before we went to be on the safe side.
