Looking polished

Why is it when I go out the slightest bit of wind sends my hair completely awol or the slightest drop of rain totally flattens my hair. Other women seem to just be able to flick their hair back in to place and look normal yet I look totally bedraggled. What's the secret ?!

Watching with interest... i attempted to look " polished" yesterday i walked out the house and thought " yep, i look ok i feel good" two mins later a lorry drove past and drove into the biggest puddle and soaked me, i had to go bk home and get changed. I also think that when i personaly look at people and think they look polished it more a matter of me feeling insecure about how i dress thus feeling like crap about how i look and then becoming envious. Thats just how i feel tho, not eveyone does.

I think a big part of it is knowing what suits you. Some people can look polished in jeans and a t shirt whereas the same thing on another woman can look scruffy.

I have curly hair and feel like it should be straight to look polished and tidy but then I love curly hair on some other people.

Sometimes I feel I need make up to look polished and have never been to work without make up on but would have friends over or go shopping etc without make up.

I think as long as you feel comfortable that’s the main thing and there may be little things you do to look more polished eg make sure your nails are filed, wear a bit of mascara and proper shoes rather than flip flops or whatever it is.

I'd like to know this.

I've been told since I came back from mat leave I look too casual in the office.

Rather upset about it to be honest and now lacking in confidence about my appearance.

Who told you this? A manager? I’m not surprised you’re upset.

It’s difficult as sometimes we don’t feel comfortable in our old clothes after having a baby. I wouldn’t wear now the fitted tailored dresses and smart trousers that I wore before I had a baby as I feel thicker round the middle!

I think a good haircut, frequently done, works wonders for looking polished, though unfortunately that can cost a bit.

Clothes- I stick to a "uniform". I basically wear variations of the same thing daily.

That sounds tough cup, I'm sorry.
