‘Smart’ t shirts?

I have a new job which means for the first time ever i won’t be in a set uniform. It’s not a proper ‘smart’ job and looking around people wear an assortment of smart casual type stuff.

So I’m after some acceptable t shirts to go with skirts, trousers, under a Nice fabric and won’t go shapeless and bobbly, preferably with a 3/4 sleeve, not too clingy but not boxy and manly either, chunky size 16. Also not $50 Grin

Any suggestions?

I bought a nice one from Oliver Bonas. It's currently in the sale for £20. It's navy blue, thick material, holds its shape. Might be worth having a look there.

I have always had success with smart tees in Oasis

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 16/08/2019 07:48

Hobbs are good for high quality T shirts. Next can be, but not always.

Tatapie · 16/08/2019 08:33

Try Reiss

lightningstrikes · 16/08/2019 09:01

Uniqlo?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/08/2019 09:19

John Lewis own brand, White Company. Hobbs generally very short.

Sparklypen · 16/08/2019 09:23

Debenhams Mantaray are good

LagoDiComo · 16/08/2019 09:40

Warehouse and Oasis are good for this type of thing. Dorothy Perkins sometimes too. H&M possibly. Also Very/Littlewoods.

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 16/08/2019 10:49

I keep hearing on here that Hobbs are short, but I'm not, and I haven't found that to be true.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/08/2019 11:15

I'm hobbit sized and find Hobbs T-shirts very short. I suppose giant norks don't help.

Warehouse and Oasis are good for this. I’ve got a few smarter t shirt tops from there

BigFatBloomers · 16/08/2019 12:48

Kettlewell are meant to be good and have a sale on at the moment. They also do hundreds of colours and they do them in 'seasons' like House of Colour and the other one I can't remember.

The Baukjen roll-cuff ones are lovely, and fit the "work-appropriate" bill. I have a thing about white T-shirts being too thin, and these aren't, really good quality. Am only gutted I missed getting a navy one in the sale.

Otherwise Arket and Cos both do excellent smarter tees.

Teddybear45 · 16/08/2019 12:50

Asos is fantastic for basics like smart cotton t-shirts.

Bubblysqueak · 16/08/2019 12:51

M&s is my go to for tops like you describe.

Grafittiqueen · 16/08/2019 12:55

I got a nice smart T-shirt in oasis recently. It's called something like rolled sleeve T-shirt.

Whosorrynow · 16/08/2019 13:11

I'm liking the kettlewell website ....will be making a purchase!

Doobigetta · 16/08/2019 17:38

I wasn’t impressed by Kettlewell quality- the tshirt I bought from there developed little holes within a couple of washes.

gnatgnu · 16/08/2019 17:43

I’ve had some great quality ones from Cos, really thick and hold their shape well. Also, & Other Stories has been fruitful in the past...

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 16/08/2019 18:51

Whistles do nice thick cotton tees. White Company jersey goes into holes almost immediately IME.
