Please advise me on my skin

I will start this thread by saying I know that lots of people suffer with full on acne, and I know I do not have this. However, I am about to turn 30 and am still suffering with oily spotty skin and I cant seem to get rid of it. It is really affecting my confidence and I'm not sure where to turn.

I wear make up maybe once per month (and instantly break out the next day even though I make sure I remove it all at night and only put on a light layer anyway.

I have tried expensive skincare brands like laroche posay and after 3 months there was no change.

I've tried vitamin supplements to balance my hormones with no effect.

I have changed my pill to one with less progesterone and it had no effect.

I am currently using all natural products in my skin care routine: I double cleanse, use tea tree spot gel and a tea tree moisturiser twice per day and have done for 2 months. I am also using a clay tea tree face mask 2/3 times per week.

I just don't know what to do next but don't have money to throw away on more expensive products. I don't think it warrants speaking to a doctor and worry they would think I'm over reacting but it is really bothering me. Here's a very bad quality pic from tonight, my skin is not too bad by my standards today but still spotty on my forehead, around my chin and mouth and sore and spotty on my nose.

Please does anyone have any advice for me?

I would visit the GP. Acne is a medical condition and is recognised as such. My acne was on par with yours and the gp put me on a course of Lymecycline as well as adapalene gel. They helped enormously while I was on the antibiotics, but unfortunately, as soon as I stopped them the spots came back. I’ve since seen an NHS dermatologist and am now on a course of roaccutane (not fun to be honest, but effective). My acne wasn’t severe, but it was bloody persistent- I’m 37.

If it’s making you unhappy and affecting your confidence, get to the GP. I say this as someone who has probably spent thousands on over the counter skin care!

Xx

Perhaps you should look at your diet. Sugars can wreck havoc on your skin, and you might have other sensitivities as well. Maybe cut out dairy and see if you have any improvement.

Not sure why you think that's not acne op. I had real problems with my skin for years. Hospital consultant was the only person to sort it out for me x

Thank you so much for the responses. Whtn I've googled adult acne, and even on the NHS website the photos have been really extreme cases so I've assumed I'm just "spotty" rather than suffering with acne, and that the Dr would think I'm being dramatic. But I will make an appointment and go and see someone. You've all given me confidence that this is worth seeing a doctor about so thank you Smile

I’m glad your going to your dr, mine said she sits there willing patients to ask about their acne but they don’t.

I had to go at 41 and really wish I’d gone sooner.
