Dog walking shoes/boots

Not exactly stylish Wink but looking for something practical if anyone has any suggestions?

I usually just wear trainers but having come back from another dog walk with soaking wet feet and covered in mud (I have a collie so we walk in fields/over grass a lot) I was looking for something better to wear especially coming up to autumn/winter.

Would I be better with boots rather than shoes? Though I could wear shoes/trainer type shoes over summer as well. Anyone have any recommendations they can share? Looking to spend up to about £80.

Just head to your nearest walking clothes outlet and buy some walking boots / walking trainers. They'll be waterproof and you can wear them year round. If you're at an outlet there will be plenty of choice for £80. If you go to a general outlet then you can try on loads of brands to buy the most comfortable for your feet. If you go to a good one, the staff will be able to advise as well.

Stuff like dubarry boots are much more expensive (partly fashion reasons) and restricted to winter really.

If you say where you're based, then someone could recommend a good place to try some on?

I love my Salomon walking shoes.

I wouldn’t bother with wellies as they’re too cumbersome for ages movement over rough ground. Personally I wear snow boots, as they’re lined, have a good grip and great at keeping water out.

I’ve got some short ankle boot wellies - sort of like riding boots. Cost me about £10 from Decathlon and they’re bloody brilliant. I’ve carried on wearing them all through winter and summer as they just slip on, no faffing with laces.

Mine are also from decathlon here £40 and have kept me snug and dry for more than a year now, still going strong. Did have to break them in a little though.

I bought these at the end of last winter. They are comfortable for my fussy feet and they keep me dry and very warm: www.muckbootcompany.co.uk/products/womens-rhs-muckster-ii-ankle-boots-purple

You can get waterproof walking or trail running shoes.

Look on SportsDirect or amazon or ebay for end of line stuff which is much cheaper.

e.g. searching for GTX (goretex) ladies trainers on sportsdirect

I wear standard wellies: not fashionable but very practical. Lots of wet grass and mud round here so they're great.

I find wellies too clumpy to walk in but need waterproof boot for winter dog walks in the woods and fields.
Have had various walking boots over past 12 yrs or so, some too heavy, others hard to clean. Finally found the perfect dog walking boot 6 months ago, Grisport Lady Hurricane - they feel very light on compared to other boots, lovely soft leather. Also they're wider fitting than usual but strangely make my large feet look smaller.
Waterproof, just rinse under outside tap to get all the mud off.
Currently on Amazon for £60 - £80.

I wear Le Chameux wellies - so comfy, waterproof, current pair are 5 years old and have been worn pretty much daily unless it’s really hot and dry .

MuckBoots are excellent.
