Diamond ring but not an engagement ring

I've inherited some money and have decided to buy a diamond ring, partly as I love bling and partly as my late grandmother did too and its in her memory. But I just keep finding rings that look like engagement rings and I want something that's a statement dress ring for my right hand. Can anyone recommend a good jeweller? I can spend up to £5k

What about getting something antique? I always see so many beautiful diamond dress rings when I browse antique jewellers.

Just seen PrincessLouis post. That’s exactly the kind of thing I meant!

There's an amazing Irish jewellery designer called Chupi Sweetman. Her rings are stunning and she takes commissions too.

Berganza is quite expensive - what about www.arullmann.com -

Or there’s another website which is much bigger called something like “Antique Jewellery Company” - that has less expensive things on. All of these places you go in in person and they knock a bit off the listed price too usually. Not loads but worth going and spending an afternoon trying things on.

JUst to say I think this thinks a good great idea and something that I didn’t with part of myself inheritance from my DgM.

I spent about half your budget amd my ring is very blingy but I still wear it most days instead of my wedding ring even though I am married.

Now I am lost in all these link so and wishing I had asked mumsnet even though I liven my ring,!!,,

I'd get a Polly Wales Confetti ring, very very sparkly

Could you make a trip to Hatton Garden in London or the jewellery quarter in Birmingham?

You will get much more for your money there...

I think you need to know a bit about diamonds to get a good deal in Hatton Garden. Prices vary widely so you can do well or get fleeced. Also the lighting in shops is very clever but the sparkle might my look the same outside or at home.

Or go to a trusted jeweller which is why I recommended London Rocks in Hatton Garden. They are well known for their honest and reasonable prices, in addition to their craftsmanship.

I spent ages looking carefully at a variety of diamonds in multiple Hatton Garden jewellers before choosing one the one I absolutely loved. Then chose the style of the ring afterwards, to suit the stone. Do your homework on diamonds 💎. Hope you find something really beautiful.

I can't recommend a jeweller but I can recommend that you aim for a reputable, well-established seller of antique jewellery.

You will find there is something which may well be unique and which will likely be better made than most items of jewellery which you find on the new market.

The extra bonus is that much of what you will pay for in a new item of jewellery is tax. This is not so with an antique piece.

Another vote for Berganza in Hatton Garden. Got my engagement ring from there - in the process tried on loads of gorgeous not-very-engagement-ring rings. They are lovely and it’s such a nice experience
