IT cosmetics Cc cream - some questions!

Hi all

I’m thinking of trying the IT cosmetics CC cream as my new foundation and just wondered if anyone uses it?

Am also trying to decide whether to go for the matt or normal and which shade ( it isn’t in my local boots so can’t try and can’t seem to find samples on line).

I have some visible pores and can get a bit shiny on my nose. Early 40s. Would describe myself as fair - was blonde as child, go pink rather than tan etc - but don’t know if the fair or the fair light are better ( I have in the OST gone for too pale foundations!).

If anyone has any advice that would be great!

How oily do you get? I get fairly oily so use their oil free one which is amazing! Also- I didn’t splurge on the full size until I’d tried it properly, and in Boots (big ones!) they do a smaller size for £13 which is a good way to test it to see if you like it first. I really liked mine and will be repurchasing, can definitely be used as a foundation but I always use a concealer on top.

What's the difference between Fair and Light in foundations? I always come unstuck there,is one more golden?

I have been tempted too but apparently the Maybelline one is a good dupe so might try that.

BigmouseLittlehouse · 10/08/2019 09:58

Thanks both

I used to be more oily, now it’s mainly on the t zone as the day progresses. As I’m getting older I’m a bit wary of looking too matte - if I could get samples I wondered about whether mixing them would be the answer!

@LoafofSellotape - that’s what I’m wondering! I think the fair is usually slightly paler and a bit more pink? But don’t know in this range!

QVC is doing an offer on CC cream at the minute. You can try it out for 30 days and send it back if it doesn’t suit you - great way to try out something new risk free.

The QVC offer is amazingly good value if you go for the normal one, plus if you are a new customer you get £5 off making it just £6 ish more than the usual size for double the amount. I usually get the illuminating one but got the normal one on that QVC offer. I have slightly oily skin but haven’t tried the matte one yet, I just set the normal one with a bit of powder where I need it.

Thanks for the QVC tip - good way to try!

This is what I've found out after I bought the wrong shade of IT cosmetic CC cream. I'm neutral and have found that IT cosmetics doesn't cater for the likes of me.

Fair is the lightest as far as I can work out.
Fair Light = fair skin with cool pink undertone.
Fair = Very fair skin with yellow undertone.
Light = light skin with yellow undertone

BigmouseLittlehouse · 10/08/2019 12:55

Thanks very much @EraOfTheGrey.

I wonder if I will have the same issue as my skin is pretty neutral. I suspect the fair may be too yellow and the fair light a bit dark.

I may try to find a boots that lets me buy smaller sizes!

Oil free one is still super glowy!

justilou1 · 10/08/2019 13:29

I use the regular one as I like a fairly glowy look. It’s not radiant, or exceptionally dewy, and can be very easily mattified with powder if necessary. My skin is pain in the arse polarized combo, with massive oil slick t-zone and tundra around the edges. It seems to balance it all nicely without getting cloggy or drawing attention to lines or pores. It’s so easy to use!!! (Plus sunscreen benefits!!!)

justilou1 · 10/08/2019 13:30

Oooooh! One thing to mention is that the shade names between the different formats do not match up at all. If you decide to swap from medium in regular to medium in illuminating, you could be in for a shock. Always try it first!!!

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/08/2019 14:10

One thing to mention is that the shade names between the different formats do not match up at all.

I've not found this to be the case at all but I only use the matte or the 'regular'. I've never tried the illuminating one so perhaps that is where the discrepancy is. The shades I've used in matte and regular are very consistent.

I've been using IT's CC cream for quite a few years before it came to the UK. They started with only 3 shades (Light, Medium, Dark) but now they've added lots more shades but the original names are a bit limiting and probably why the shade names aren't entirely clear now.

OP from the sound of it, the regular CC cream would suit you best. I moved over to using Matte but I have very oily skin. If you're just getting some shine on your nose as the day progresses, regular will work well for you.

Fair is VERY pale. I'm very pale but it's too pale for me even. You sound like a Light to be honest. You say you were blonde as a child but that implies you're not blonde now. Light works for me when I have a light tan but in winter I'm Fair-Light. I'd suggest you give Light a go. I used it when there were only 3 shades and as a pale person, you can definitely get away with Light. I think Fair-Light would only be too dark if you're one of those people with white translucent, almost blue skin! Don't be misled by the names (it sounds like this is what's happening to you).

Finally, you can buy the travel sizes direct from IT's UK website and postage is free so no need to travel around trying to find a bigger Boots.

What puts me off trying IT CC Cream is the fact one of the main ingredients is snail secretion filtrate (snail slime/mucus).
I don't really fancy putting that on my skin. However snail slime is supposed to be good for the skin as full of vitamins & peptides.
I suppose it boils down to the fact that snails aren't as cute as sheep so we don't have that ick factor when it comes to applying lanolin to our bodies.

BigmouseLittlehouse · 11/08/2019 09:45

Thank you so much everyone!

@HundredMilesAnHour - re the colours, this is my concern. In the past I have often bought too pale a foundation as want to to look natural but instead look washed out! It’s a particular problem in summer when I can get a ( very little!) but of colour. I’m now a very light brown/dark blonde I guess ( still go blond in the sun but also have highlights!). I’m definitely not the translucent red head type skin. Thanks so much for the link to the travel sizes and all the advice! Im off to order - hoping it’s as good as all the reviews and works for me!

I bought the small one to test it and it lasted a couple of months. It’s definitely worth trying out which colour and formula suits you best.

thisenglishlife · 11/08/2019 21:01

Do you have a Selfridges near you? You can test them there or get the sa/mua to apply it.
