Lip salve. Face wipes. Baby wipes. Deodorant. Moisturiser. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Fresh pair of knickers. Don't hog the bathroom though.

AngeloMysterioso · 09/08/2019 21:06

My long haul facial kit is-
Simple face wipe- I’d prefer a more luxurious one but they come in travel packs.
Nip & fab glycolic fix pad- also comes in travel packs
Caudalie beauty elixir, small bottle. Give yourself a good spritz, it’s lovely and refreshing.
Superdrug simply pure hydrating serum
Followed by a really good intensive moisturiser
Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm.

Of course if you’re really hardcore you could go the whole hog and take a Korean sheet mask...

We quite regularly do 13/14 hour flights and manage with the airline provided hot towels and toothbrush/paste. That's all.

Wanderlustnearorfar · 09/08/2019 21:16

Thanks for the speedy replies. Was in a quandry, will have a look at some of those Suggestions. The flight leaves at 9.30 am the country I’m visiting, is 6 hours behind us. Do you suggest sleeping on the plane or ploughing on through. I’m generally very poor at handling lack of sleep Blush

Take your make-up off on board, use a wipe for convenience. Then a good eye cream and moisturiser- I just use my regular stuff, optex eye spray to prevent eyes drying out. Repeat half way through the flight unless sleeping and in between regular spritzes of a nice facial mist and applications of lip balm. Teeth brushed before sleeping if it’s overnight flight and before landing. Clean knickers and t-shirt before landing too and in the interests of not hogging the loo I take a small mirror and reapply make-up in my seat. Noise cancelling headphones and a neck pillow to maximise sleep if flying economy- the best way to look fresh is to not be completely knackered when you land. Also, you’ll look better if you stay off the booze but where’s the fun in that?!

CMOTDibbler · 09/08/2019 21:19

Sleep as much as possible, drink lots of water and no alcohol. I fly long haul a lot, and my current fave moisturiser is the M&S night cream.

Expressedways · 09/08/2019 21:27

So if I have this right you’ll land at 1.30pm local time (is this U.K. to the US perhaps?!) - I did this yesterday and I’d recommend a short nap if possible as this will make it easier to stay up late enough on arrival to avoid jet lag. If you can’t then I wouldn’t worry though, my toddler decided to sleep during the meal service so I didn’t get an opportunity to snooze later and it was ok actually even though we were up ridiculously early as we had a short haul flight first. Passed out at 6.30pm, woke up at 5am this morning and we all feel ok today!

I always use Lancôme hydra intense, but it is getting harder to find, so use either the Lancôme rose (not as good) or a really good (and cheap) dupe from Trader Joe’s (no good if you are in U.K) I take my own toothbrush because unless flying business/upper most don’t supply anymore. Also an amazing lip balm.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/08/2019 21:35

Wine to get me through.

MyGirlDaisy · 09/08/2019 21:43

Last time I did long haul I had this sort of time difference. I really wish I could sleep on planes but I can’t so just ploughed on and went to bed about 10pm local time, felt fine the next day. Coming back left in the evening landed in the UK early morning, really wish I hadn’t eaten the evening meal as I don’t think that helped me to sleep but I made myself stay awake all day and again just went to bed about 10pm that night, jet lag wasn’t bad. Definitely take a neck pilllow, toothbrush and paste, lip salve, wipes and moisturiser. I also took my contact lenses out both ways. Enjoy your trip.

I used to fly long haul a lot (mainly for work) and I find with daytime flights, have a brief nap if you can (a glass or two of wine will help) and then power on through until your usual bedtime if at all possible. Once you're off the flight, just keep moving. Resist the temptation to have a snooze when you get to your hotel as that will mess your sleep up later.

I used to fly every few weeks to somewhere that's 10 hours flight from the U.K. and 6 hours behind. It's no big deal. Quite a nice flight length actually. Enough time for a movie or two, a nice meal, some reading and a reasonable nap. I'm not sure why people feel the need to change knickers and T-shirts when they're only flying for 10 hours. Maybe these people change their knickers halfway through the day at home as well?

I always take a small mist spray (Dermalogica) which I apply every hour or so, some eye cream (apply every few hours), some hand cream (apply every few hours) and a solid stick deodorant (keeps liquids to a minimum). And a travel size perfume (although careful how you use this as some people are very sensitive to perfume being used near them). I always carry lip balm wherever I am anyway so that's a given. I change into flight socks after take-off and slap some hand cream on my feet so they get nicely moisturised. I use the travel toothbrush and paste 1 hour before landing (before the toilets get too busy) and I take some toothpicks with me as well. I have a stash of Colgate Wisp Max Fresh at home and I bring enough to cover all my flights as these are great for freshening up your teeth just sitting at your seat.

I always take some Bose noise cancelling headphones (the small in-ear phones) plus some Flare Audio earplugs and a Masters of Mayfair eye mask. If it's a really long flight or overnight and I will need to sleep as I'll be going straight to the office on arrival, I take my own travel sized feather/down pillow with a silk pillowcase. I also have a really lovely huge pashmina that is silk on one side and pashmina wool on the other. Great to use as a light blanket or a wrap or just as a big scarf to dress my look up.

I drink lots of water but I also enjoy some wine as well.

I have light make-up in my bag. A travel size IT Cosmetics CC+ cream, some pressed powder, concealer and lip stick in case I need to smarten myself up before landing (or my luggage gets lost and I need to last a day or two with minimal make-up). I take a small hair comb and I sometimes take a travel size dry shampoo for very long flights but wouldn't bother for only 10 hours. I'd just use some dry shampoo before I left home as it helps my hair keep some body when sleeping on the plane and prevents any greasy roots appearing.

So is my wife but she watches films, back to back, for hour after hour. I might watch one but sleep the whole flight, only waking for meals or if I get hungry and have to ask for a snack.

When we get to where we are going, we jump straight in to eating and sleeping to local time. We have found this minimises any jet lag. Going the way that you are going is actually easier to cope with than the other way round.

Yup, I'm with ChardonnaysPrettySister all the way, although I steam through with gin and a wily smirk Grin

I fly a lot and I don't wear face makeup (when flying), just eye makeup with a good eye primer and setting spray.
I massage some facial oil into my skin at the start of the flight, drink loads of green tea and relax. Making sure to apply lip balm regularly.

I don't sleep because I run better without it when traveling, but I listen to relaxing music.
About One hour before landing I brush my teeth, apply another layer of facial oil with my sunscreen (Canmake Mermaid Gel, which is my Holy Grail sunscreen) over the top. I then dust a bit of blush lightly over my cheeks, more lip balm and I'm done.

caranx · 10/08/2019 05:31

Ear plugs

Eye mask (I have my own I'm comfortable with, rather than using the airplane one)

Don't wear makeup as I think its crass taking it off/putting it on in the seat.

Moisturise whenever I feel dry (face/backs of hands always worse)

Comb hair/brush teeth/deoderant in bathroom just before arrival

Use all unscented products/no perfume so as not to annoy/asphyxiate your seatmates.
