Personal shopper experiences

I'm considering booking a session with a personal shopper / stylist and looking for people's experiences. I'm thinking of booking a free John Lewis session and if that doesn't deliver paying for the stylists at Westfields (London or Stratford). Has anyone used them and how did they find it?

I've lost my way a bit style wise, due to return to work after mat leave 2 shortly and think I could do with a fresh perspective. I'm in a senior role in a creative industry and have realised now I'm a bit older I need to look a bit more polished - but still fairly casual / interesting. My shape has changed a bit and the things I like don't seem to suit me. I don't have a huge amount to spend so if I was paying for the service I think my limit would be 2 hrs - would that be long enough? I'd be looking for a coat and a couple of outfits that could be matched in with more tops and shirts that I could add in later. Perhaps a dress as well.

Thanks!

I've used John Lewis a few times and they were brilliant when I needed to upgrade my work wardrobe. Really recommend. I've also used Banana Republic in London for same thing and was genuinely surprised at how good they were, also I got free alterations ( sleeves and legs shortened) and they were posted to me. I recommend having the sessions that are free to start with. Also maybe try smaller boutiques.not sure where you are but there's a boutique in St Albans that is raved about for this and I assume items do it too

Thanks soover . Interesting re: banana republic, wouldn't have thought of them and I do often need things shortening. In north London so not too far from St Albans. I think I'll start with John Lewis and take it from there.

The shop is the dressing room and the link should take you, if you scroll down to the bit where they say you can book a session. I used to live near there and I've heard nothing but good things and they don't pressure you
