Budget light day cream

Can anyone recommend an effective light day cream for someone on a budget?

I have used Dior Hydra Life for years, but now as a SAHM, moving house and with a second child on the way, I am really struggling to justify the £50+ price tag.

I have skin that alternates between super dry (so I absolutely have to wear a daily moisturiser) and very oily (hence the need for the moisturiser to be light).

I've googled but can't seem to come up with anything, and all the budget creams I tried in my early 20s were far too heavy.

Grateful for any suggestions.

Big fan of the extremely budget Nivea daily essentials 24H moisture boost day cream.
My skin has never looked or felt better and it is about a fiver a tube! Sometimes it is on special over in SuperDrug for £3!! I used to use Boots perform and protect and I find this one much, much better. I also use the night cream. I have oily/combination skin and sometimes get hormonal spots.

I use the Olay daily moisturiser with 15 SPF because I'm infinitely pale and need 15 SPF even in winter. Normal or sensitive skin, not anti-aging because that one is heavy again.. But I'd also be keen to hear what other people recommend, because I have found a lot of them to be heavy...

Thanks for the suggestions @OnlyToWin and @zinrepus I'll give those a try!

i'm using simple, replenishing rich daily moisturiser. £2 in Sainsburys, £2.95 superdrug. Light, not greasy, but great. I've got slightly dry, pale and freckled sensitive skin. worth a try for the price?

Aldi LaCura caviar (proabably others from the LaCura range are just as god)

Or the Superdrug own label Vit E one (can't remember exact name)

Nivea and Simple are also good

mnahmnah · 08/08/2019 20:31

Nivea Q10 or Nivea cellular, depending how strong you want the anti-ageing element! The best i’ve ever used. I used to get spots or dry patches, not for years since using these. People often compliment my skin. You can often get them on offer in Boots or supermarkets too

Another recommendation for Superdrug Vit E

Another vote for Aldi. I always used to use Clarins but there was a lot of hype around Aldi moisturisers a few year ago, gave it a go and haven't looked back

PixieLumos · 08/08/2019 20:40

Bodyshop do great day moisturisers, I’ve used the seaweed, vitamin c and vitamin e in the past - all great on my combination skin.

Nivea Soft or Nivea Q10 . On deal in boots , supermarkets etc .

TheFaerieQueene · 08/08/2019 20:49

Nivea soft. I use it for face and body. I’m 54 and don’t have a line or wrinkle and pass for 44 without any trouble.

I’ve used £££ moisturiser and it makes no bloody difference. I love nivea and spend the rest of the ££ on champagne.

withlotsoflove · 08/08/2019 20:58

CeraVe day cream. Contains all you need. 😊

Misty9 · 08/08/2019 20:59

Aldi lacura here too - the white tub with spf 20 too

Ritatheryvita · 08/08/2019 22:05

I like oil of olay complete lightweight spf15. It's currently on offer for £3.50 in Boots.

jelly79 · 08/08/2019 22:48

Aldi Lacura is great! No difference to clarins :)

soupmaker · 08/08/2019 23:00

I used to use Kiehl's products on my very sensitive, sometimes parched, sometimes oily skin. Now use Aldi Lacura Caviar day cream and Lacura Rose Oil, works just as well and doesn't cost the fortune I used to pay.

Another vote for Simple.
