How to (very) quickly and cheaply get fake tan off?

Hi folks!

Did myself a lovely St Tropez tan for a wedding a week and a half ago, but now have some big patches as it is fading (slowly!). I need to get it off tonight to reapply tomorrow - any ideas as to how I can get it off (ideally using a homemade scrub)?

I used to use St Tropez all the time and remember it fading really evenly but that definitely isn’t the case this time! Ideally I’d like to tan once a week but how do I deal with the build up and patchiness of the previous week’s tan?!

Thanks so much x

I just use a exfoliating mitt and normal shower gel . Does the job

Thanks isitautumn, I have been doing that for the last few days, but it doesn’t seem to have done much! 😬

Korean exfoliating sheets work for me.

I had a thread about this exact problem just a couple of weeks ago!

There is such a thing as 'false tan remover' (who knew?!) and when I went to chemist there was at least 6 different brands of it!! I got the Coco Brown one, cost around a tenner. You put on dry skin, leave it to work for up to 15 mins and then shower it off. Works a treat and saves all the faffing that I'd spent hours on the previous days!

Mineral oil (baby oil, bio-oil etc) will help dissolve it.

browzingss · 07/08/2019 14:38

Apparently baby oil is really good!

lovelylondonsky · 07/08/2019 15:41

Deet wipes. I discovered this by accident on holiday when my fake tan lifted right off onto the wipes!

GVmama · 07/08/2019 20:34

Hand sanitizer works if you have a bottle handy!

Igetknockeddownbutgetupagain · 07/08/2019 23:29

It’s harsher, but cream cleanser and a sponge with a scourer side. I use on my palms and soles of feet if I make a mistake.

GreyBird84 · 07/08/2019 23:39

There’s a mitt called tan eraser. Have a shower or bath then rub over body with the mit. Works particularly well of you soak in bath 10mins first.

Can buy online or Sally’s sell them.

Berthatydfil · 07/08/2019 23:39

Hamam mitts. Apply lots of moisturiser. Have a long soak in the bath. Get out and rub damp , not wet skin with mitts.
The top layer of skin rubs off.

Baby wipes work for me but your arm will get stiff from it as you need to be quite thorough with them

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 08/08/2019 00:01

Have a shower then scrub with a rough unsoftned towel when you dry yourself.

BanjoStarz · 08/08/2019 08:15

Might be too late but slather yourself in baby oil for ten mins before you get in the bath.

Soak for at least 20 mins

Then go to town with an exfoliating glove - you shouldn’t need to go too hard as the oil and the soaking will have softened everything up

Thanks very much everyone - some great suggestions here! x

Baking soda and lemon juice is the best, mix into a soft paste

SeaSaltandLime · 08/08/2019 18:58

Baby oil, leave to soak in for 15 mins then as hot of a bath as you can handle. Exfoliating mitt or flannel and it should melt off.

Once you're out use a rough towel and rub the remnants off.

I used to use things that were downright dangerous to remove tan - pumice stones & cif cream for one Blush
Baby oil works it's magic.

Tan remover mitts are also excellent.

Toothpaste works wonders on stubborn stains, as does fresh lemon juice.

sugar, ordinary kitchen stuff, caster/granulated, etc, one cup,
plus: olive oil, one cup, and
half cup salt.

mix it together, rub it into the skin. usually works.

Glycolic acids pads.
