Balcony or plunge bra for a wide set, full chest?

Full boobs, huge gap between them that you could drive a bus through. I want them to look nice and round rather than like heavy bottomed test tubes. I can't work out if I need a balcony bra or a plunge bra. Or something else? What bra styles work for you if you are pendulous and spacey? I don't want to walk around looking like I'm hanging weights from my nipples anymore! Tia

I'd say balconette if you're wide set. I'm narrow set and can only wear plunge. I think the best thing would be to go to somewhere like bravissimo if you can and get fitted and get suggestions. I literally only suit ONE bra style. I tried on about 10 last time I got fitted, but it would have been more if they hadn't helped me!

DandyLyon · 06/08/2019 16:49

Thanks, I did go to bravissimo once but they had me in some crazy small sizes. I spent a fortune and never wore the bras. So it's put me off a bit. But I think you're right that I probably need to sort a fitting. It's just finding the time!

I've had good experiences with M&S. For years they just gave me frankenboobs but they appear to have upped their game or my boobs have just changed shape...

I'm much as you describe and find their Olivia bra good, and the t-shirt sofr cup one that has satiny stripes (comes in white nude and black)

DandyLyon · 06/08/2019 17:06

Thanks @TigerJoy Off to google those now

Definitely m and s t shirt bras as suggested by TigerLily. They've changed my shape completely

DandyLyon · 06/08/2019 17:33

Which T-shirt bras @TigerJoy @fedoff They have them in different shapes eg full cup T-shirt, padded plunge. Which ones do you have?

I don’t have a gap as such but I’m similar in that they seem to go quite fat round my side so nipples not pointing straight forward. I suit plunges way more than I suit a balcony.
With a plunge bra, I scoop them up and towards the middle so end up looking normal. With a balcony, they just look a bit ridiculous.

Davespecifico · 06/08/2019 17:42

I was into the proper bra fitting (go narrower round trunk and bigger on cup size), but found it uncomfortable . I’ve decided to change from 32DD to 34D and it’s more comfortable. Triumph are always reliable. With M And S, it’s more hit and miss for me.

This and variations on it are comfortable and flattering for my wide set chest.

TigerJoy · 06/08/2019 19:19

This one I think, although the pattern is slightly different to what I have

In bravissimo they say I'm 34F. 36E are MUCH more comfy though (otherwise the wires dig in horribly at the sides).

Also the sumptously soft bras at m&s are comfy, but squish my shape a bit, i think.

Triumph are good - I like the Magic wire ones (silicone wire). They make my tits look like a Japanese cartoon (in a good way!) but they don't last more then 3-4 months.

PickAChew · 06/08/2019 19:28

Balconette. Curvy Kate or Freya. (32H, pendulous, wide set)

PickAChew · 06/08/2019 19:31

@Davespecifico I have to do that with triumph, anyhow. My amourettes aren't as stretchy as my other bras.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 06/08/2019 19:32

Balcony. Try the Cleo Marcie.

DandyLyon · 06/08/2019 19:48

Love the suggestions, thank you so much. I just can't work out if balcony or padded is better for wide set. I do want some kind of push up effect I think. Most of my bras are balcony bras but don't quite seem to do that for me. But I don't want to accentuate the huge chasm between my boobs with a plunge. I just want them pushed up/together a tiny bit

Debenhams own are very good, much better then M&S and reasonably priced too.

Raisingawolfpack · 06/08/2019 20:03

I too am broad with a pair that seem to fall to the side, and I've found a plunge gives me a more round cleavage. Balcony give more lift, but keep them separated, and I've found can look more matronly. Sorry that this is the opposite of others.

I found wearing v neck clothing with some decolletage on show and plunge quite flattering for my broad shoulders and wide chest (I'm a 36/38 E, size 16/18, 5ft 10).

DandyLyon · 06/08/2019 21:38

Yes @Raisingawolfpack ! I think that's the problem, the balcony keeps them separate and the gap needs a bit of closing

Betty777 · 06/08/2019 21:42

i agree with Raisingawolf pack above - i have similar shape and I find plunge is the best.

Please try Bravissimo again, they are amazing and genuinely helpful. And what you want they refer to as a 'side sling' which means shaped cups which help pull your wide boobs together.

this one is one of my faves www.bravissimo.com/products/millie-bra-rose-ln566rse/

these too:

Good luck :-)

Thanks @Betty777 I've just ordered the panache tango to try 🤞
