Curly Girl method for a beginner

Hi, I have half wavy, half curly hair and have been reading up on the curly girl method. To be honest, there's so much advice and so many steps that I'm finding it a touch overwhelming. Would someone be kind enough to help me put together a basic (and cheap) plan. Should I no poo or low poo? Are there any particular (again cheap) products I can use - ideally ones I can get from boots/superdrug. I have a microfibre towel which is a start. I plan to pop to town in my lunch break so I can get started tonight. Will my hair look shit for a while? Thank you x

Should anyone still be around, I've done my third cowash tonight. I used a silicon scalp scrubber thing that I was recommended on a Facebook group and really worked it in to try and cleanse my scalp. Rinsed out my conditioner well and am popping as I type. It's too late to dry so destined for overnight plaits so there'll be no natural curl but I'm really trying to persevere with the no shampooing. Hopefully my scalp will settle then I can really give my all to full blown curly girl.

I'm still here Neils. I was going to give it a try, but Had bought Redken curl product that was recommended on mn, so decided to try that. But I'm sure I'll get fed up of it soon Blush and then I'll try cg again.

Joining going to have a go! My hair is wavy/curly underneath and curls nicely when scrunching, haven't used heat for years so fingers crossed! Will have a look for products today...

Well hair looked ungreasy enough to wear down today and a shop assistant I see often told me it looked lovely so progress. I'm also a sucker for new products though and staying loyal to a routine is not natural to me.

Yeahbut all the products that you’d otherwise be sucked in by will be full of mystery alcohols that you can’t remember whether they’re drying or not so you’ll not buy them. (Maybe).

Day 15 - still fairly greasy on the old roots but I think its getting better. Snapped up a discount bottle of discontinued superdrug extracts conditioner which smells heavenly.

This is the pound shop conditioner I use. Leave a bit in,scrunch a load of gel in and that’s all I do. I’ve always used VO5 gel, but tried Umberto Gianni curl jelly recently. Not sure if I like it, I think I might go back to my vo5 once I’ve used it up.

I've been hearing fabulous things about that conditioner and am determined to get some. I'm three weeks in now. Still not found my dream curls but my scalp seems used to cowashing now and no longer looks greasy. Plopping is a no for me as it makes my curls stringy but I've tried mousse again this morning so we'll see what drying brings.
