Anybody had any success getting rid of dark patches / sun spots? Please help!

Not so much getting rid of but managing and preventing, yes.
I use heliocare fluid cream (SPF) all year as a primer and since i started the sun spots have naturally faded over winter and stayed that way over summer. Mine are/were on my cheeks/under by eyes and I use Mac Pro longwear concealer to brighten my undereye and blend in the age spots. Hope that helps

The Ordnary Ascorbic acid and arbutin is the only thing that's helped to reduce mine.

In the past I tried Eucerin skin care range for pigmentation and it made no difference.

I wear Biore Watery essence factor 50 (cheap on Amazon) every day as a moisturiser as recommended on here.

Caudalie vinosource range is good for this.

Prevention is definitely key! I use Heliocare factor 50 every day. I then use acids and retinols to help with the damage I have (I love DCL skincare c-scape and Paula's choice retinol, along with Paula's choice nicinamide and azalaic boosters in my moisturiser oh and I have a tester of Sunday Riley Luna oil which I love too).

Prevention isn’t much use if you’ve already got the dark patches, and it doesn’t help if they were caused by pregnancy or hormones etc. You can have them lasered off, I’m considering having a couple of bad ones removed when I can afford it.
