How much do you spend on jeans?

For years I've lived in cheapish jeans. Mainly Topshop and River Island but they always end up falling to pieces as I wear them every single day.

I've lost a lot of weight recently (and hoping to lose some more!) and I've been thinking about "upgrading" my jean choices to something more expensive.

Is it worth shelling out £100+ on jeans? What are people's favourite brands. Preferably some that have a waist size of around 34" (bloody hens teeth with higher end brands Envy)

Levi's definitely worth the price tag.

TheNightof1000Fans · 04/08/2019 18:43

Levi’s in the sale. Never full price!

GymKitJen · 04/08/2019 18:53

primark high waisted skinnies - £9 or something

I get my jeans from Dorothy Perkins usually as they do ankle grazers which are just the right length for me. Also they do NHS discount!
I only pay under £30 for jeans, usually £25 or less because I like to buy the latest washes & colours / styles. So I don't need them to last forever. Although they generally do last & I'm always washing them.

I spent over £100 on my jeans and they're worth every penny. They were hemmed to my measurements and I get lifetime repairs for free. And I support a local business at the same time (the only craft jeans maker in London).

I was always going to go down the raw denim jeans route (so looked at UK makers like Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, Huit Denim, Alde Custom Clothing etc) but if I hadn't, I would have either bought Levi's or Nudie jeans.

I’ve got quite a few pairs of Sainsbury’s jeans but my favourites are from Baukjen and cost £95, given how much I wear them the price is reasonable

nitgel · 04/08/2019 19:01

I like Lee and Levi but recently buy uniqlo ultra stretch jeans. My last pair were 9 in the sale and they're fab. I think you gave to shop around. Tk maxx is always good

GrapefruitGin · 04/08/2019 19:03

If you wear jeans every day then yes it’d be worth the investment. Personally, I like to play with fashion and wear different styles every day so I’m happy with my collection of topshop/primark/new look/ASOS jeans.

Ooh nice bit of variety here. I'm leaning towards getting some Levis, Madewell or Uniqlo. Definitely interested in those custom made jeans in London though. As I said, I wear jeans almost every day so it's wortth the outlay. I'm also thinking of ditching the ones with added stretch as they really do lose their shape. I used to get a lot of chub rub holes, though hoping these will be a thing of the past.

With the Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, what sort of price range would we be talking for a bespoke pair? £300+?

Gap jeans. I love them, they do more boot cut and mid / high rise styles than most other companies I've tried, they wash well and despite being RRP £55 ish, a couple of weeks ago I got four pairs in an outlet for £28 in total.

Would never pay full price for them though, just stockpile when I hit the outlet motherlode.

Galicali · 05/08/2019 04:14

Madewell not worth it imho, they don't wash&wear particularly well, mine got a hole in the denim after few months of use and I didn't wear them that often.

Bluesheep8 · 05/08/2019 06:07

I swear by gap jeans. I've had 2 pairs for over 10 years and they're still going strong. Only buy in outlets though. I've also got a pair of levi super skinny which retail at £80 something but they were £2.95 from a charity shop.

Almahart · 05/08/2019 06:48

Uniqlo jeans are excellent though I think the cuts are a bit strange this season

Have a look at Community Clothing - their jeans look lovely and are not super expensive

I must say I used to have properly expensive jeans before kids and I think they were absolutely worth it

Almahart · 05/08/2019 06:57

Just had a little scooch through the Levi’s website. Loads of lovely jeans and not as expensive as I thought

Verite1 · 05/08/2019 10:24

The most flattering jeans i own are MiH. I have a few pairs. I never buy full price though. They are usually around 170-210 mark but you can get them for less than 100 on the OUTNET (which is great for discounted jeans).

cheesenpickles · 05/08/2019 10:39

Good shout on the Madewell. My nieces loves their black jeans but apparently throws them when they fade. Hmm

I'm super lucky I have a Levi's outlet in my city and a Costco membership. Think I'll go try some on this week. Grin

When I have money I love Frame jeans.

cheesenpickles · 05/08/2019 15:44

Been on the hunt for some vintage Levi's and found soooo many. How many pairs of jeans is it justifiable to own? GrinGrinGrin

cheesenpickles · 05/08/2019 16:34

Just spent around £200 online shopping for jeans to try on. Thank god for Klarna hey?

Saying this very quietly, but I think you need to spend over £100 a pair, unless you are a perfect stock size. I have one pair of Hiut Jeans that everyone has admired for fit and finish, and bought them 18 months ago, but they cost £150. I gulped at the price but they have (more than) earned their keep.

cheesenpickles · 05/08/2019 21:21

I def think £100+ is the way to go. I'm planning on losing on some more weight first so finding some cheap stop gaps at the moment. I'll check out huit though!
