Menopausal skincare!

Since my teens, I've always had very oily skin that is prone to cystic acne at particular times of the month. My skincare routine was therefore pretty minimal and aimed mainly at trying to control the oil output - I would just use an astringent anti-blackhead cleanser and then a small bit of oil-free moisturiser on my cheeks.

Now my skin has completely changed and I have no idea how to look after it. It's still quite young-looking and I have very few lines (there have to be some advantages to all that oil), but it's prone to being dry and thin, and it gets irritated by harsh cleansers and face washes. I don't get spots any more, after a year-long bout of really awful breakouts as the menopause set in, but I do still have a really oily nose for some reason...

I'm very pale and sensitive to the sun. What should I now be doing to keep my skin in nice condition without irritating it?

My skin sounds very similar to yours.
I am now post menopausal and I had dry flaky skin with a very oily T zone. It was dehydrated.
I use Cerave hydrating cleanser from Boots, and a hydrating toner from Paulas choice. I highly recommend Hada labo hyaluronic solution from Amazon too.
Any decent moisturiser.(I use Olay) and find a facial sunscreen that you like. I use Shiseido Senka from Amazon. It's from Japan and really lovely.
It really doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Thanks sheree. It's a whole other world from what I'm used to. I've got some stuff from Boots to experiment with and will stop with the harsh anti-acne things straight away. The next step will be make up - I never bothered with it before because it used to just slide off my face, but now I probably need it.
