Not the palette- the single shade ones. Are they any good? Feeling a bit flat! Which shades would you recommend? I'm pale with blond hair.

Which one did you buy op?

Howaboutthisone · 11/08/2019 09:14

@Bluntness100 I got luminous in the end.

I'm blonde and pale skinned but wear fake tan on my face most of the time so went for Dim Light. I'm not blown away by it but might be applying it wrong. Any tips for application?

Bluntness100 · 11/08/2019 12:04

Hmm,, I just ordered dim light, wondering if it will be too dark now..

Howaboutthisone · 11/08/2019 12:18

Luminous looks darker than I was expecting but it doesn't leave a colour, more of a sheen I'd say.

I just dust it all over with a big angled blusher style brush-didn't buy the hourglass one and feel like for the price of this it should have come with a brush anyway!

I watched a couple of you tube reviews and dim light seemed quite light, so the comments on here have me doubting it,,,and I was worried about a sparkly face. No one likes that 😂

bushes · 11/08/2019 13:32

Dim light can be quite dark. I am very tanned at the moment and my skin is only just able to carry it off without looking orange. However, when you are tanned or if you have olive or darker skin tones then it is really beautiful.

Re application, less is more! Just a swish of a big brush over the top of the powder, then gently and lightly buff over your skin. It is not meant to be applied like a powder foundation. You really do need just a light sweep.

Bluntness100 · 11/08/2019 13:47

Hmmm, I may have got it wrong, I'm quite pale normally...

Verite1 · 11/08/2019 15:25

I’m pale and thought dim light seemed too dark for me. Luminous matches my skin ok. There is a lighter one (maybe ethereal?) but I thought that looked a bit more sparkly and I wanted subtle glow rather than sparkles!

Wellhellothere101 · 11/08/2019 17:44

So I've applied dim light on today all over my face with a powder brush and, gosh it's beautiful! I've definitely got that 'lit from within' look. Even my DH commented on my glow. Thanks OP for reminding me I have this powder in the depths of my make up bag.

EatenByDinosaurs · 11/08/2019 17:50

I tried the Wet n Wild one after reading about it on another thread and its so much nicer than the Hourglass one, not to mention much cheaper and the quality is much higher. Packaging is a bit crap, but functional.
Feel like a bit of a mug for buying the Hourglass one now Hmm.

Bluntness100 · 12/08/2019 11:19

I can report the dim light isn't too dark, in fact on its fairly colourless, maybe adds a little pink/warmth to your skin.

Like many reviewers right now I'm not sure I'm getting the hype to be honest.

Bluntness100 · 12/08/2019 11:25

Actually, a definite softening effect, and you can see it better in pics.

Howaboutthisone · 12/08/2019 15:33

Glad it wasn't too dark! I haven't found it 'in your face' wow but I'm happy it gives a bit of a lift and that was what I was after. I'll look into the wet and wild one to compare.

No, it doesn't give much colour to be honest. It some lights you can see a softening effect. You can definitely see it in a selfie.

HepburnKNotA · 12/08/2019 18:14

Another disappointed user here! Can’t remember which shade I forked out £50 on but I’ve used it about 4 times in five months and it made me look a bit sparkly but a bit grubby too each time. Will possibly use it more this coming winter just to feel it’s not a total waste. But would never re purchase!

verystressedmum · 12/08/2019 19:04

I have dim light and it does give me a healthy glowy look but it's really dark. I'm olive skinned but with cool undertones (apparently) and I can't wear dim light all over my face as it looks like I have a bronzer on.

I don't really know how I'm supposed to use it so I use it in various places like top of forehead top of cheeks. Sometimes I very lightly whip it over my whole face if I look particularly grey and tired.

It's nearly finished so I might get the shade down next time as I do like it.
