10 days to make myself beautiful

JeniBeeCee · 30/07/2019 22:21

Next week I have to go somewhere and it is very important I look and feel as gorgeous as possible.

I've recently coloured my hair so that's done (considering getting it washed and blowdried on the day rather than styling it myself), and I exfoliate and fake tan a couple of times a week anyway so that's another tick.

What other steps can I take? Any other little boosts I can do over the next few days to achieve max fabulousness?

Eyelash lift and tint - a lovely, glamorous finishing touch.

LakeIsle48 · 30/07/2019 22:24

Nails

Littlechocola · 30/07/2019 22:25

Eyebrows, eyelashes and nails.

Atlasta · 30/07/2019 22:25

Nails? I like a classic manicure
A lovely new perfume? Something 'posh'
I'd also suggest good underwear and working on your posture( if you need to). It really makes a huge difference to how I feel both mentally and physically.

notacooldad · 30/07/2019 22:27

Work from top to bottom!
You've already said some things but:
Hair
eyebrows shaped and tinted
eyelashes dyed and maybe a few inserts if needed
manicure
fake tan
pedicure and gel nails
fresh make up or make up that you feel fabulous in
great underwear either shape wear of something that makes you feel great.

Facial (microdermabrasion is good), lashes and nails.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/07/2019 22:34

Personally, if you are not used to getting facials or microdermabrasion, I would skip this. You could have a reaction and end up with a disaster on your hands. A gentle scrub at home, yes. Full blown sand blasting, no.

palahvah · 30/07/2019 22:52

Do some exercise every day where you get out of breath. 20 mins hiit or constant. You can't buy the glow it will give you.

Practice good posture every day too.

And exfoliate your body + moisturise well.

JeniBeeCee · 30/07/2019 23:04

I've never had a facial/ dermabrasion so agree it's probably not the time to start.

I do exercise 3-4 times a week usually but might for the next week try shorter daily exercises...I've done some 15 min HIIT routines before so may try that again.

I'm growing my nails (I always keep them very short but they have a tiny bit of length now so I might get a manicure or do something with them myself)

What are you going to wear?

Chilledout11 · 30/07/2019 23:13

Get a shellac if you have a bit of length then another week would make a good difference.

Nice jewellery

Aquamarine1029 · 30/07/2019 23:18

What is your skin tone, op?

chocatoo · 30/07/2019 23:38

Eye brows, eyelashes, nails (hands and feet) and fake tan.

custardlover · 30/07/2019 23:39

Teeth whitening? Just to add to the rest of the excellent suggestions!

JeniBeeCee · 31/07/2019 18:58

Potential outfit is very weather dependent...but assuming the weather is good I'll be wearing this but black not red...

If it's cold or raining I'll wear something more covered!

Drink lots and lots of water, at least 2.5l a day. I try and eat lots of oily fish/avocado and I swear it makes a difference to my skin.

HolidaysorBust · 31/07/2019 20:57

Sheet masks. I recently discovered them and it's like having someone else's (much better) face. I can't stop looking in the mirror. Skin Republic is my favourite so far but I'm just trying a random selection at the moment and they're all good.

miffmufferedmoof · 31/07/2019 20:59

Get lots of sleep. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason!

JeniBeeCee · 31/07/2019 21:52

Thank you...I never drink enough water. I will really try and do that from tomorrow!

My skin is quite oily naturally...I'm a bit hesitant about the sheet masks as reviews seen to talk about them adding moisture...are they still helpful for oily skin?

Am trying to sleep early too. I am normally a night owl but now aiming to be asleep before midnight every night.

Where are you going?

HolidaysorBust · 31/07/2019 22:44

My skin isn't dry but not oily either. I get the impression there's a sheet mask for everything though. I'm sure I've seen one for purifying. I've been using ones with things like vitamin c, retinol, collagen etc for plumping and brightening. I've stopped wearing daily foundation as they've improved my skin tone so much. Superdrug seemed to have the best range for browsing in-store (where I am at least).

Eat lots of fruit and veg. This has been shown to give you a healthy ‘glow’ you can’t get elsewhere.

Get a properly fitted bra (eg bravissimo) - can make such a difference to your figure.

Lumene · 01/08/2019 08:18

This is a report on a study on fruit and veg and a healthy glow:

Lumene · 01/08/2019 08:19

I would be wary of trying any new skin products in case you have a reaction.

IhaveALooBrush · 01/08/2019 13:04

Get your eyebrows threaded, it makes a huge difference to your face.
Nails, pay someone to do them unless you aren't completely cack handed like me.
Exfoliate all over
Lots of moisturiser between now and then
Lots of water
Regular sleep
No alcohol
