Help! Cracked weeping skin after hair removal

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/07/2019 21:04

Last night used hair removal cream down below for the first time in years.
It was Nair Sensitive and I only left on for about 4 minutes.
Trouble is I had mild chafing in the groin from doing a physical job last week when it was really hot. The cream seeped into this area and I've now got open weeping cracks.
This is exactly where my pant line sits so I won't be wearing knickers to work tomorrow and will borrow DP's boxer style pants. It's so painful to sit and walk and I have to walk tons in my job as well as bending and lifting. (taking Ibuprofen for now)
Don't want to see the doctor for something so trivial and it takes two weeks anyway to get an appointment.
I've tried both Lucas Pawpaw ointment and Sudocrem... but because the skin is raw and weeping it won't stay on
Any more ideas?
DP is saying put on the paint on Germolene new skin stuff but can you imagine! There is no way. I have a high pain threshold but the screams would be heard from here to Australia (and anyway.. it's not going to adhere to wet skin)

I have to wear thick work utility trousers too which doesn't help... they tend to chafe anyway,...

I had this a few months ago so I truly feel your pain.
I found just ‘airing’ the area overnight helped massively and i was then able to absolutely saturate the area with sudacrem and wear some of DPs fitted boxer pants, they created a nice protective barrier without rubbing.

Talc - I used a gently medicated one from boots for a similar situation, wasn't expensive. The talc will dry it out and keep it soft, and hopefully a bit slippy as well.

Maybe take it with you for regular applications through the day.

Ginger1982 · 30/07/2019 21:47

This happened to me recently although I managed to get the cream much more intimately than I intended. It has been a horrible few weeks as I've just wanted to scratch myself silly but it is now starting to get better. I've used Vaseline and also some of DHs aftershave balm 😬

Chochito · 30/07/2019 21:49

This happened to me to a lesser extent. I used it for 4 minutes, the sensitive one. That stuff is dangerous!

Can you apply some ice wrapped in a couple of clean towels to make it less painful?

PunkTrumpet · 30/07/2019 22:01

Bepanthen!

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/07/2019 23:07

ah Bepanthen is good, have used in past, I don't think it will stay on a weeping area though.
Medicated talc may be good. Looks like I will be wearing DP's pants for a while!
Ice sounds great.
How long did you all take to heal? It's going to be hard as not a place air gets to. I went commando under a maxi dress today as no work but also four hours in a hot car

Ginger, it went right inside very intimately shall we say. That bit was fine. My actual bits must be steel! But the groin creases are awful, they look like small whip lashes. And let's not talk about my bum hole :( I don't know how it got up there. My eyes were watering when I finally gave in and went to do number two today (sorry TMI!)

Ouch! Mine wasn't right inside but rather where the pubic hair ends and delicate skin begins 😬

alltoomuchrightnow · 31/07/2019 00:18

The cracked skin is where the hair ends. Ie pant line/ groin crease. What I meant was although the cream did get everywhere, the internal bits were fine... (apart from my bum)

Salt water is brilliant for healing. Are you near the sea? If not use your bath. I'd second letting the air at it whenever possible. Talc or a protective balm will reduce friction as others have said. I wonder would a nappy rash cream help?

You've made me laugh anyway 😂, I did this myself many years ago. Thankfully it was before Brazilians etc became popular so it was just inside the knicker line.

You could also ask in a pharmacy if you don't get any relief.

alltoomuchrightnow · 31/07/2019 01:51

Haha no, I'm about as far as you could get from the sea, in England!
I do have some sea salt so I think I will take a soak in the bath.
DP has been away all summer working and came back today. This was my effort to be sexy and smooth! Miserable fail. Totally miserable. I wasn't even hairy in the first place really! I'm not a very hairy person. I'm now even less hairy and partially skinless and shall be walking like John Wayne at work tomorrow.
Last night I was covered in the pawpaw balm so had to lie on a towel and then have another placed over groin area so as not to get any on clean new bedding.
Anyway today he came home and announced he has Peyronie's (thought he had for about 6 months but did nothing) so we are both feeling sexy AF regarding our bits Hmm

Oh no, that sucks!! 😖

MikeUniformMike · 31/07/2019 14:29

Germolene

barryfromclareisfit · 31/07/2019 14:34

Treat as nappy rash. Rinse thoroughly with plain or slightly salted tepid water. Pat dry gently. Apply restorative cream and expose to the air and light. Sunlight if you can, but an ordinary light bulb helps.

Haffiana · 31/07/2019 14:49

Something that works well on chafing sores is a Compeed blister plaster. Instant relief and then protection! Skin needs to be clean and dry. You can leave it on for days and days...

However removal in a hairy area might be a bit grim.

The other thing to try is a 1% hydrocortisone cream last thing at night for a few days which will really promote speedy healing. Both Boots and Superdrug do an own brand one. Use as little as possible.

alltoomuchrightnow · 31/07/2019 23:38

Barry, I think I might get into trouble if I exposed to sunlight ;) I do live v rural, but , too many dog walkers and horse riders!
