soft school shirts

DD is going to high school and is now needing to wear a shirt and tie, at primary school she has just been wearing the school polo shirt with logo. She is very sensitive to the feel of clothing and hates the 'starched' cotton that the majority of school shirts/blouses are made of. Does anyone know of any brands of school shirts that come in maybe brushed cotton or flannel or soft cotton (like a t-shirt material) rather than the smooth cotton that dress shirts are made of? Part of the problem is I can't feel what the material is like before I buy online, and even in shops the shirts are often in packets.

Apologies if this isn't really Style and Beauty, I just know that the people who frequent these boards are great at finding clothes on line.

Most shops do skirts with an elasticated waist that are soft but polyester rather than cotton. I’ve bought them from Next and Sainsbury’s for my DD.

Just realised you were asking about shirts and not skirts Blush

Asda girls shirts have softer collars (the Peter Pan type collars) and some jersey type shirts. DD doesn't like stiff collars and shirts or skirts, so she is entirely in jersey uniform.

Next do 3/4 sleeve jersey school shirts which might fit the bill?

You may want to consider hacking the tie so it’s on soft elastic. Hidden but will look right but more comfortable with a softer collar.

Jersey style material would be good, i’ll have a look at Next and Asda, thanks for the suggestions. Good tip about modifying the tie too, I haven’t really had many complaints about the tie (yet!) she is more focused on the starchy shirts

Hi re the tie, it’s more because ties are designed to go with the stiff 2 part collar. Softer shirts don’t have the same shape or height of the, umm let’s call it tie space Grin so can sit funny or be uncomfortable with the thick fabric under the collar.

Also if tights are an issue my DD likes the thermal ones as they are fluffy inside. She doesn’t get on well with the standard opaques.
