Lip filler advice

I have had filler before, went to a new clinic last week. My new practitioner said not to massage the lips at all; that bumps aren’t a problem as long as you can’t see them so not to worry about them. She almost made it seem like bumps were a good thing as it gives the lips volumeConfused, like as if she was promoting bumps as a technique!

I have a few small, hard bumps on my lips now, they’re not super visible head on but I can definitely feel them - my partner can too! This did not happen to me before. What should I do? From my practitioner’s comments I doubt that she would be concerned, is this normal?

Doesn’t sound normal to me. I’ve not had lip filler but I don’t think lumps are the desired look and you can get cyst like lumps from some fillers. Do you know what product she used? If you don’t feel comfortable going back I’d try and find another clinic preferably with a doctor and ask them to take a look. You may need to have it dissolved.

Glamour did quite a good piece on lip fillers which includes advice and a video about bumps etc. www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/everything-you-need-to-know-about-fillers

The NHS also has some basic sound advice on possible problems (including lumps). Hope that helps.

Thank you for the information :)

She used Juvederm and she is a doctor with a respectable clinic, it wasn’t a cheap or dodgy place.

My lips luckily don’t look lumpy, but I can feel the small bumps :( this didn’t happen after previous sessions! It’s only been a week so I’ll give it the full 14 days to see if the filler settles

Perhaps she meant that they will feel bumpy at first (although not look it) but that it will go away after a week or so? You could phone her to ask about it, a good clinic wont mind you calling up with questions post treatment.
