Dress to take on campervan holiday to France?

Hi all, I'm looking for a dress to wear around the shops and out casually in the evening. In France so want to look good as possible. Most of my dresses are natural fabrics, which tend to crease, so for camping I think I'm looking for manmade fibres or at least non crease non iron. We do have a little wardrobe for it to hang in.

I'm size 10, 34D, don't like my waist / tummy so empire line often suits, soft summer in colours (i.e. mostly smokey colours, not neons or pale pastels), 5' 2" so def above knee. Don't like my arms either but think sleeveless often looks better than short sleeves.

Totally love mix of colours opposite on colour wheel like pink on green or blue.

Any ideas? Budget prob 150 absolute tops.

Have a look at boden maybe this one which comes in several different patterns.
Or this one which is ready to dress up if required.

Like that Palm one, but wonder if jersey might be a bit warm?

I dont think this fits many of your criteria but I can vouch for the comfort and crumplefreeness of this one.

In the sale too bambooclothing.co.uk/shop/jersey-v-neck-bamboo-dress-soft-poppy-marl-white-stripe/

I have the Boden Amelia one and it is very flattering (high waisted) but drapey and yes, fairly heavy in hot weather. But at the same time easy to wash and dry. I like it and do wear it a lot (mine is plain black).

For beach trips and causal wear I use a very light Gap shift dress that I sewed an elastic waist into. It wasn't much use before but works in its new incarnation perfectly.

I have found the search for a perfect amalgamation of the two dresses above impossible to find so would love to hear how others got on.

TerpsichoreanMuse · 26/07/2019 06:06

I do like that, lego, but suspect it wouldn't look nearly as good on me.

I agree about the Amelie, does look good in plain colours, but I do think it's going to be too warm for the middle of France in August, sadly.

Patagonia, Rohan and Royal Robins all specialise in travel clothing, especially for these type of rucksack-to-restaurant fsituations:

Patagonia dress. others on their website.

Rohan. The Malay dress looks like it could work (read the product description]].
Royal Robbins dresses. I like the look of the Spotless Traveller Dress, but not sure that blCk would be great in warm weather.

You might think I've gone mad, but I bought this last week, yes it is a nighties, but I've worn it as a dress and I've not had it off my back it is the comfiest thing I've ever worn.

I'm in France. It has been 40C here this week. I have been wearing jersey dresses. I don't think you will find them too warm in August.

TerpsichoreanMuse · 27/07/2019 07:25

Like that Patagonia dress, tencel sounds ideal, thanks. I also like the shape of that RR wrap dress but the patterns are a bit naff and agree that the black probably isn't right for day time.

The weirdfish one is good, especially the grey pattern, but I already have linen dresses and getting more than one day out of them would be impossible.

Chemise is good too thanks, actually it seems to be filed under dresses so I think you're safe!

Thanks all for good ideas.

Monsoon have lots of good dresses, and also in their beachwear section. Plenty of sale bargains too.

I have this Boden dress and it's lovely in this hot weather in uk. I think it would work for you. Check out theirother sale dresses too. Excellent quality and easy to wash

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2019 12:56

I've got a couple of Boden jersey dresses, but they are far too thick for warm weather. Annoying, as that's what I bought them for!

The Next linen dresses come in sleeveless and short sleeves and a range of prints. The sleeved ones would probably be too warm, but sleeveless might be okay of you can find a colour/print that you like.

This is a lovely print and shape, but over-priced.
