Hard/rough skin advice

My heels and the backs of my feet (above the heel, below the ankle) are very dry and rough.
I do try to use an exfoliator/foot file in the shower every day but they're still really bad.
I'm away camping this weekend so they're likely to get absolutely filthy.
Is there anything I can do to help stop them being quite so vile? I sat with moisturising booties on for 20 minutes today and they're not really any better. I'd just like them not to be 'showcased' with mud.

Flexitol heel balm is v v good

Dermatonics 'Once' heel balm. Recommended by chiropodist. Instantly cured my cracked, dry heels.

Alternate every night between Flexitol and a very, very rich moisturiser with pop socks on until all looks good again (3-4 nights should do it) and keep using the shower file every evening but don’t be too aggressive with your skin.
I have one particular pair of sandals which always give me hard skin right on the edge of the sole a bit like your problem. They are the right size, all leather, flip flop style but an elegant version with a thicker sole if that makes sense and are very comfortable. I think they are a bit too hard and very single time I wear them, I get this problem. Could it be a particular type of footwear you have that’s causing this? Then avoid wearing it see if it gets better.
Please update if you find a miracle cure, this maintenance takes forever and I love my sandals.

Try using the foot-file on dry feet, before you shower (the M&S one for £3 is really good, but when they've got very bad and been neglected I use the Colossal Foot File before the M&S one)

I second using Dermatonics also recommended by my chiropodist, so much better than Flexitol and you only have to use it once a day. I put moisturising heel socks on after (these are socks which only cover the heel & ankle of your foot, they're silicone lined over the heel and achilles area so the cream stays on your skin and isn't absorbed by the sock).

Dermatonics approx £8 and moisturising heel socks approx £3 all on amazon as well as Colossal file approx £5

I'll try to track down the foot cream!
I vary footwear as my ankles overpronate in most things and plantar fascitis makes flip flops and sandals uncomfortable.
I'll update with findings.Grin

Good luck @Riftgibbon! Hope you get sorted and enjoy the camping!

I was also recommended Dermatonics Once by my chiropodist. It really works.

Quick update.
I realised that I missed out from my original post that straight after several nights in a field, I was off to a posh 'do' and needed to get my trotters into fancy shoes.
I could only find flexitol at local shops, but I did one application before we went, tried to keep out of the mud, and did another application the night before the 'do'.
My feet are looking better.
I'll go properly shopping later this week, so will try to source some other recommendations.
