Which outfit for wedding?

Which of these? Unsure of how formal the wedding will be but the ceremony is in a church and the reception outdoor marquee. It's next weekend and the weather looks mixed. Opinions?

Definitely 2nd dress

thespywho · 20/07/2019 20:47

This is the back of the dress, it's not clingy so I thought I could get away with it.

I think both of the dresses are too short for a church wedding to be honest. I'm only 33 but definitely always go longer when it's a church ceremony to be respectful. Big catholic family though so I do have my Nan to tell me off when I'm too short but maybe something to bear in mind? If you'd come to one of our family weddings in dress that short you'd definitely stand out (your legs are killer though!!)

I love the 3rd. Maybe you could wear a blazer over it in the church? It’s gorgeous on you.

TeethingBabyHelp · 20/07/2019 21:08

@NottonightJosepheen all parishes are different I guess but that would definitely be unusual at our church to be that short. Same for strapless.
Maybe we do just have a randomly strict precedent set?
OP the dresses do both look very nice on you, I wish I had legs like you!

mimibunz · 20/07/2019 21:12

The first class looks fabulous on you, especially with those shoes. You look great!

thespywho · 20/07/2019 21:13

It's not a Catholic Church and not a religious family. The church will have been chosen for tradition and the reception is at the brides family home. I'm athletic so feel out of my comfort zone in all the girlie dresses!

Maybe a shift style like the third dress but longer is the answer.

Re the shoes - it would be easy enough to wear the stilletos to the Church and photos, then change into "easier shoes for grass" for the Reception.

Now I've seen the 2nd picture, I do think the pale blue dress is quite a bit shorter than ideal for a Church wedding, tbh. It is just better than your other 2 options.

TeethingBabyHelp · 20/07/2019 21:16

How tall are you OP? I'm 5ft10 so often struggle with dresses coming up shorter than I pictured! Have you tried Asos tall section? The shape of the darker blue dress is lovely on you so I think something similar would be lovely

asparalite · 20/07/2019 21:18

The second dress is great, as you have amazing legs it really suits you, definitely wear it!

sandyfoot · 20/07/2019 21:24

Pale blue dress for sure. Looks great from the photo

SleepingStandingUp · 20/07/2019 21:25

Second dress. Just sit ladylike and it'll be fine. Shoes for church and photos and flat shoes packed in case it's muddy. Might be they lay hardstanding but if not your heels will be wrecked even if it's dry onn the day but the ground is soft.

MmeBufo · 20/07/2019 21:26

The pale blue dress is good. It is a little on the short side but it needs to be with the cut and sleeves. If it could magically be made longer it wouldn't look right at all.

Wedges would maybe be a better choice than the nude heels, both in terms of practicality and looks.

Apolloanddaphne · 20/07/2019 21:30

The short dress is lovely. My DD 2 is long of leg and wears short dresses. She always looks amazing. She wore a very short to a recent wedding and has a very short dress for her forthcoming graduation. If you've got it, flaunt it!

Chewbecca · 20/07/2019 21:37

All look nice on you but none are perfect for the occasion. Jumpsuit will be good for work. Pale blue dress most suitable but a little short & you can probably do better. Third dress looks fab but too short for a wedding imo.

Luckingfovely · 20/07/2019 21:47

Pale blue dress looks fab. The second dress is stunning on you - but yes, short for a wedding.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 20/07/2019 21:50

2nd dress

Luaa · 20/07/2019 21:57

I think the jumpsuit is the best, I really like it!

I don't like the pale blue at all and don't think it's flattering.

I can see what you mean about you long legs though, the dress itself clearly isn't short, you just have a lot of (very nice) leg not covered by it.

I have been to several church weddings where someone is wearing a short dress and no one seemed to mind, so maybe it depends on the group of people attending/individual church.

nzeire · 20/07/2019 22:05

The first blue dress is lovely! Fab figure!

Sorry, but I think the jumpsuit is awful! Camel toeyish?

sunnyshoresgalore · 20/07/2019 22:15

Last dress looks like you're off clubbing! Light blue dress is nice colour but I think too short. Jumpsuit is meh.

FrancesHolmes · 20/07/2019 22:22

Dress is fantastic. It really plays to your strengths. Yes it's shorter than I would wear but I'm 50 with legs like tree trunks. Play suit thing a bit too casual- perhaps with some killer shoes- the ones in the picture are too casual too.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 20/07/2019 22:26

Number 2

LadyGAgain · 20/07/2019 23:08

Lucky you with your lovely figure!
Both dresses are too short. Similar lines but nearer to knee (just above is fine!) would be fab! Jumpsuit is great but too casual
