Help with straightening

I have naturally curly hair. I tried the curly girl method for about a year but most of the time it just looked so awful and so heavy with products. So Ive decided to straighten again. Then I remembered why I stopped straightening it! Its very dry and frizzy. What products can I use to help with the dryness and frizziness?

I've tried loads over the years and have 4 straighteners...then I got a L'Oreal Steampod and it's changed everything. I have very long, thick hair, and can straighten it in 15 minutes. My boss was so impressed that she ran out and bought one last week - she can't believe how easy it is too.

How much is it ? Where can I get one?

What about a revlon blow dry brush, the round one , not the flat one. I use that on my wavy hair. They're about £60 from boots.

You can get a steam pod on Amazon...they’re about £200, but I’ve saved that by not having to go get blow dries.

Loved the steam pod but it damaged my hair so badly I had to get it cut short

I don’t think products are as important as tools but I use macadamia shampoo and conditioner on my curly hair. I also like macadamia oil, boots curl creek and boots curly mousse.

I think you get better results if you blow dry first and then straighten. I’ve found that if I use a rotating brush drying styler (I think similar to the revlon posted above but I have a Remington one which spins)this gives me a salon style blow dry. Very smooth and lots of volume. This works better for me than blow drying. You can then straighten if you want a very sleek look.

Sorry the curl creme and curly mousse are obviously for when hair is curly.

For straightening I use god protector, oil on the ends and then a straightening / smoothing creme. I like the TIGI ones.

Brazilian Blow Dry. Expensive but worth every penny!

magicstar1 · 21/07/2019 20:55

@Littleblurry in what way did it damage your hair? Shock

OP, what styling products do you use in your hair now?

I use a serum whilst it’s wet, blow dry, then add a bit more serum and heat protectant when straightening. I finish off with a different serum for extra moisture to stop it getting frizzy throughout the day.

Nanechange3007 · 21/07/2019 21:39

I've been using a serum which one fo you use?

I use Moroccan oil & ghd advanced split end therapy (highly recommended!). I finish off with TIGI small talk because it’s more lightweight
