Face tinkerers. What do you recommend?

I'm not going to post a photo because it's my whole face!

I'm mid 40s and after a tentative foray into Botox I'm happy with it and I've been back after 4 months and had my second lot done.
I'd like to have something done about my jowls, cheek fillers are a possibility but might not add enough jowl lift.

As I don't want surgery I've been for some consultations. To confuse things I have some allergies, marine collagen is out.

Someone I saw suggested threads along my jawline and pulling them up to tighten them.

Another Dr talked about Morpheus 8 with a tiny bit of lips on my jowls. Trouble is that I'm allergic to the local anaesthetic they use. They suggested doing it without. No thanks!

Every practitioner I see says their treatment is best and rubbishes other methods! It's proving impossible to find and weigh up a full range of options. My friends have had things done but it's not something we discuss in our group.

What non surgical procedure have you have done on your jowls and jawline?
Did it work?
Was it painful?
How long did the results last?

I’ve just been reading about the strawberry lift for jaw tightening, it uses lasers so is non intrusive.
The before and after photos look impressive, but then they all do, don’t they

HisBetterHalf · 08/07/2019 19:43

I really want to dip into the face tinkering arena. Lots of work looks good and tempts me but then you see the not so good work and it puts me offf

BeCoolYolande · 09/07/2019 11:28

Thank you for replying, I was beginning to think it was just me Confused

Botox is great for the top half of my face, I wouldn't change it.

The problem is the bottom half. As my OP said I can and might have cheek fillers, which will help to pull my jowls up but as I age it won't be enough.

Tentomidnight I agree, every before and after photograph makes it look like miracle results have been achieved. You don't get to see the mistakes, the problems or even just the people who weren't that satisfied with their results.

HisBetterHalf I want to look like a fresher version of myself, not like an inflatable sex doll. So yes, I know exactly. I want to be 'done' without looking 'overdone'.

Why I have learned:

If you haven't had anything done before I would say that Botox is a good place to start.

Research everyone and everything before you see them.

Only go to people working from a proper practice, not just their front room.

Ensure everything is spotlessly clean, that sharps bins, new needles and other new implements are always used and they wear new, clean gloves every time.

If you have any doubts then walk away.

I'd still like to know about others' experiences.

That should be what I have learned, not why Hmm

I’ve hear Endymed is good (radiofrequency) for jowls , it tightens the face. It’s on my list to try next.

I’m using a Nuface (microcurrent device) I think I notice a bit of a difference (we’ll i do when I stop using it).

It’s hard as this is an area that botox doesn’t address and I think jowls and sagging are more ageing than wrinkles.

I’ve had laser to stimulate collagen but not sure if they lift!!

slinkysaluki · 10/07/2019 16:02

Profilho ?

BeCoolYolande · 10/07/2019 19:56

One of my DD's friends DM had profhilo and she looked like a prize fighter for a week until it went down.
Is it always like that?
And does it hurt as much as it look?
I know nothing is ever painless but this was bad.

Ultherapy? Never tried it but looked into it. I’m put off by price and the fact it’s 6 months for peak results. Plus I’m not looking at it for jowls but saggy skin in upper face - apparent,y it’s good for jowls and neck...

GlamGiraffe · 10/07/2019 21:57

I have had cheek fillers. Only .5ml each side but it has noticeably lifted my whole face. I originally visited a Dr with a very good reputation for non surgical treatments. I went as I wanted my naso- Liam folds and year troughs filled and was worried about the droopingwhich was starting lower in my face. The doctor told me mist of it could be treated I my case by the check fillers with voluma. I have a really small face so didn't need much but the lift was significant and would say it's a good starting place. If nothing else it makes you look a refreshed and better version of you.the amount you need will vary on your face and the amount of volume loss and positioning to create lift. You don't look hamster ish afterwards at all. Might be worth considering. Where are you located OP?

Ohyesiam · 10/07/2019 22:04

Op, do face exercises, they totally work and are ( obviously) risk free.

there's a brilliant one on you tube with the dreadful name of facial fitnez( or maybe face fitnez) . It says it’s 32 minutes long no, but the relevant bit is about 20 mins, I have so many comments and complements about looking young.

princessTiasmum · 11/07/2019 16:20

I was told cheek fillers lift jowls, they don't, they do make your face look better and fresher, especially if you have lost mid face fat
I have also had a weaker version of Ultherapy, it was recommended by someone on here it was called Promax, waste of money, did nothing for me, and nothing on my neck which is my worst area, but heard bad reports about Ultherapy too

princessTiasmum · 11/07/2019 16:22

GlamGiraffe do youmind saying how much 5mls cost, and did you look ok, where i went she put about 2mls in and had to go twice

BeCoolYolande · 11/07/2019 22:40

Interesting, I've heard people IRL swear by cheek fillers for lifting jowls and others say they're useless. So I'd be interested to know how many ml were used too.

All of our faces are different and people definitely age differently, even though there are often commonalities. Myself I know that yes, my cheeks have lost fat. I don't know whether fillers would help my jowls but I think it's worth a punt.

Profhilo didn't do anything for me at all and it hurt like stink.

Just had a course of caci and that's done nothing for my saggy face either.

I sent nuface back - it did sweet fa.

I'm having fillers in my mid face and jawline for the first time in a fortnight.

I'm also having upper eyelid surgery next week 😳 Bit nervous about that!

I don't want to try any of the skin tightening treatments, like ultherapy, as there are too many stories of it going wrong.

Botox is of course the bees knees for forehead. I just have my 11s done.

Vit c, acids and retinol/treat (and SPF) is a must for lovely skin.

KatharinaRosalie · 12/07/2019 09:19

Ruggy you will find my upper eyelid surgery photos on a thread here in S&B - don't be nervous! It was super easy and quick and didn't hurt one bit.

BeCoolYolande · 12/07/2019 09:54

Oooh I'll take a look at your upper eyelid surgery, I don't think I need it but I'm always interested. Smile

I posted some photos here - warning there is also a post-surgery photo with stiches still in.
