Very petite professional clothes

Hello all,
I am under 5ft and a petite size 4/6 in River Island and Miss Selfridges, which means anywhere with vanity sizing like Next/ Dorothy Perkins is completely out. I mostly muddle through wearing a mix of back to school and childrenswear along with things I can find in the two shops named above. I can go to H&M for tops but not trousers (too long). I hate being so limited for adult professional wear. Are there any other options?

Gap size 0 trousers was always my go to when I was tiny- if you go for the shorter ankle styles you might find they are ok for length. Size 6 in Oasis might be ok for dresses as well. Reiss do a size 4 as well, and have you tried online - ASOS also go down to size 4 as well I think, although length wise you might struggle, I often have to buy petite there at 5'3 (I have short legs though!)

A friend in a similar position went to a local seamstress to get a capsule work/going out wardrobe made to fit - it was obviously a bit more expensive but not as much as she had thought and she seemed thrilled with how well everything fitted. You could also consider some of the companies that make stuff to measure online.

Having the basic dressmaking skills to take clothes up or in opens up a lot of possibilities - jackets need specialist skills but taking up a pair of trousers is very easy.

I'm not sure Gap size zero trousers will be small enough. I wouldn't describe myself as petite and I have several pairs in that size.

Agree, about the basic dressmaking skills though. I quite often buy bigger sizes than I need and alter to fit my specific shape. It does pay to check how a garment is put together though as some are easier to alter than others. I do skirts and tops usually. Altering trousers, other than just shortening, can be tricky.

I used to get mine taken in at the dry cleaners, my favourite suit ended up a Tesco pin stripe pencil skirt suit that had cost £8 to alter.
It’s a faff as you just want to buy clothes that fit.

I can only shop in ASOS Petite as they go down to a UK2, there are some decent things.

I have 1 or 2 items from Primark - a few pairs of trousers etc.

My daughter uses Zara and has a couple of Austin Reed suits she had for school. She also has a few things from jigsaw but most things need taking up professionally.

I use some size 6 petite Dorothy Perkins and some H&M size 4 ...
Some quite nice basics .. in reasonable fabrics .
I sympathise.. I am tiny generally ( but with huge boobs that only Bravissimo can control ) so do struggle to get clothes ..

This is me! I use Asos size 2 but very little decent workwear. Reiss size 4 is ok if it's a bodycon fit, but tends to shrink slightly so some styles are ok. Banana republic does a uk 0 and 2 but I found them both too big.

If you find any wear please let me know! You just can't wear a miss selfridge dress in a professional role, it's infuriating.
