Eyeshadow colours for hazel green eyes

I've always stuck with beiges/browns but I'm not sure they are suiting me any more, or I just can't find a shade I actually like! Anyone with similar eye colour found their go to shade? I'd like my eyes to stand out a bit more, but not 'out out' iygwim? I'm sure I just manage a washed out/tired look most of the time! Thanks

I often put a ‘wash’ of gold or bronze over a brown base.

Notonaschoolnight · 03/07/2019 12:24

Burgundy

Destinesia · 03/07/2019 13:22

It depends, sometimes I like to bring out the amber colour in which case I use a denim blue, or if I want to bring out the green I'll use a plum/burgundy colour.

chuffnstuff · 03/07/2019 13:26

Ooh I like the sound of burgundy/plum, will give those a try! Thanks

Purples or golds.

dudsville · 03/07/2019 16:08

I don't use eyeshadow across the whole eye, when I did I used neutrals. I now too a baseline swipe of neutral just above my lashes and then a thinner swipe of an anthracite grey.

dudsville · 03/07/2019 16:11

Forgot. I also have a similarly dark plum.

chuffnstuff · 03/07/2019 16:12

The thing with golds for me is that I find them too sparkly hence I've always stuck to matte neutrals. I've just hit 45 and whilst I don't look too bad for my age (hopefully), I'm not sure what I can get away with without looking like mutton dressed as lamb Grin

I have hazel/green eyes and love eyeshadow with warm, red tones. You do need to be careful to make sure you don't end up looking like you have conjunctivitis! A good way to think about it is using the colour wheel and going for shades in the opposite colour so opposite green is red. This will make your eye colour pop.

Definitely purple/plum/burgundy shade.

This from Charlotte tilbury is pricy but gorgeous:

Plump82 · 03/07/2019 18:20

Clucky3 I have that and its so nice. And definitley makes hazel eyes pop

UnboxingSoon · 03/07/2019 18:22

When I'm going out, I put a bit of purple on but that can be hit and miss. It can look good, but also, I've ended up taking it all off again! I also stick mostly with light brown over the lid and a brown line close to the lashes.

My friend did my eyes with a green eyeshadow once and it looked AMAZING but when I did it it looked weird.

So, not sure this is helpful but it is harder than with grey or blue or brown eyes I think.

That CT Bronzed Garnet pencil is fab. I’ve bought 3/4 of them. Reminded me that I need to get a new one!

WouldHAVEcouldHAVEshouldHAVE · 03/07/2019 18:24

I haven’t bought 3/4 of all of them! I meant 3 or 4 times I’ve bought it.

Yutes · 03/07/2019 18:27

Purple!

whitehalleve · 03/07/2019 18:34

Definitely purples to pinks make green eyes pop.

BoomyBooms · 03/07/2019 18:34

I have hazel eyes too, and I always used to struggle with this. Whenever I googled it I would be told purples but I really never liked it on. What does work instead is taupe-y colours and greys as well as the obvious browns. I really like them for easy every day definition and just layer on the eyeliner and darker shades for evening. You could buy a palette and experiment!

BobTheFishermansWife · 03/07/2019 18:41

I love how flexible you can be with colours on Hazel eyes. I tend to go for green shades to pull the green out of my eyes, I find brown tones make my eyes look more brown, blue is also a good colour to go with.

Skin tone dependant pinks, reds and yellows can look good too (not on me because I'm as white as you can get so I look ill)

Also a dab of white in the inner corner of your eye is never a bad thing.

Ilovemylabrador · 03/07/2019 18:42

Pink or blue here

JonnyPocketRocket · 03/07/2019 18:45

I have a colour similar to the CT bronzed garnet from Kiko that cost about £3 - in case you want to try it without spending £19, OP. It has good staying power / non-creasability but possibly not as good as CT. In general I like warm coppery tones. (Am not a fan of the purples always recommended by google.)

Beebumble2 · 03/07/2019 18:46

Green with a small hint of brown here. I use neutral on the lid and a dark green in the socket. Sometimes grey. The plumbs make me look a bit vampire ish!

WellTidy · 03/07/2019 18:48

Sage or khaki greens with a neutral look nice. I have never mastered a purple on my green eyes as I always look like I’ve been punched.

chuffnstuff · 04/07/2019 17:20

Thank you everyone! I've had a bit of a splurge on a couple of palettes Smile

Matt pinks seem to work for me now I'm in the same age bracket. With a pinky-mid brown for depth on the crease/darker brown on the outer edge.

BobTheFishermansWife · 04/07/2019 20:52

@chuffnstuff, can we see what you went for please (sorry, I'm nosey)
