Can anyone advise on hair straighteners?

My dd would like to be able to straighten her very thick, wavy hair for a couple of events she has coming up. I have no experience at all of straighteners so am
hoping for some pointers!

There are lots on Amazon for £20/£25; will they be shit? Can you recommend a reasonably priced one that will do the job? She's only 11 and they really won't be used very often so I'm trying to void spending loads.

TIA

Babyliss are usually pretty reliable - often in Boots for that sort of price.

Thanks Remus Flowers

Yes I'd also recommend babyliss. I've never had an issue with any of their straighteners/dryers and the ones I've had have lasted years.

Honestly if you can afford it just get GHD's they will last her over 10 years and she will use them (probably daily!) throughout her teens.

If you don't do that then make sure you get straighteners with ceramic plates (as opposed to metal ones) and get a decent heat protectant treatment to protect her hair.

Thanks for the replies Flowers

I'm really reluctant to splash out on GHDs at the moment because I think once dd realises straightening her hair will be time consuming and a bit of a faff the novelty will wear off!

I definitely wouldn't get GHDs for an 11 year old.
