When you use Flexitol or foot moisturiser, do you put socks on afterwards?

I am trying to get in a good routine of looking after my feet but can't work out what to do after I put cream on them. It's too hot to be going around wearing socks, but if I don't, my feet are all greasy and it would get on the floor / carpet / bed.

What do other people do?

That's unfort why I stopped moisturising my feet (espec with Flexitol which has a faint smell of urine!) because I too don't know what to do afterwards - interesting to hear of any solutions!

StealthPolarBear · 30/06/2019 11:24

Yes I just do it before bed then put woolly socks on

DamnItsSevenAM · 30/06/2019 11:32

Ah so it's not just me Gerty!

Thanks SPB, but would you do that in this weather? I'll be honest, I don't bother much in winter as feet are always covered up, but in summer they seem to need doing daily at least or they get all scaly.

Yes I don't find it too bad I suppose if it was really warm you could dangle your feet out from under the cover.

Pipandmum · 30/06/2019 11:36

I really rub it in. I use it mainly in the morning and put on shoes/sandals as usual.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/06/2019 11:38

I do, but then I'm rarely that hot

Passthecake30 · 30/06/2019 11:38

I put it on my heels, wash my hands and tip toe to bed. It has to be the very last thing I do... and dp finds it quite hilarious Grin

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 30/06/2019 11:39

I just pop thin trainer socks on, it’s fine for an hour or so.

DamnItsSevenAM · 30/06/2019 11:39

Thanks Pip, I don't wear shoes in the house, I guess I could put it on just before I go out, but I feel like I would slip around and make my shoes greasy! I also feel like if I really rub it in, most of it is going on my hands! Which are not usually scaly.

SPB at the moment I am dangling my entire body out from under the covers and still feeling appallingly hot, so socks sound like unnecessary torture. Do you live in Greenland perhaps?

Passthecake, but does it not make your sheets greasy? The hilarious tiptoeing sounds rather lovely I have to admit.

Georgie that's what I have done this morning but it's too hot and it's making my hair sweat. I don't care about my feet enough for this faff.

OP posts:
YesQueen · 30/06/2019 11:41

Yep but I always wear thermal socks in bed even if it's 29c Grin

BeardedMum · 30/06/2019 11:42

I put it on before bed and in the morning if home I put socks on for a bit. My feet are not summer ready yet. I think I need a chiropodist to have a go at them.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 30/06/2019 11:45

I don't and I found the best foot cream ever. It's Soap and Glory Heel Genius.

They say it works best with some socks on though.

RainOrSun · 30/06/2019 11:58

I use this because I dislike the smell of flexitol.
It lives next to my bed, and is put on last thing, with any remaining traces on my hands rubbed into my legs (I dont typically moisturise them at night, so goes in easily). No socks because I cant face them. Sheets seem to survive - it soaks in pretty quickly to my skin, to be fair. Probably no more than 5 mins, and I dont think there would be much transfer.

DamnItsSevenAM · 30/06/2019 12:32

Ooh, thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that cream a try.

I use Astral btw, cheap as chips and really good, I slap it on all over

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 30/06/2019 12:47

Astral is great for moisturising, but on feet you need heavy duty exfoliating before you moisturise.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/06/2019 12:50

I use footner for exfoliating every couple of months, and a foot file in between.

madcatladyforever · 30/06/2019 12:53

I don't use flexitol in summer its much too greasy, simply feet foot cream is very good.
I am quite lazy so I plaster it all ovr my feet straight after a shower, put ankle socks on and by the time I'm ready to go to work it's all rubbed in and I can take the socks off.

Happyinheels · 30/06/2019 12:55

I use Vaseline before bed and pop trainer socks on. It's amazing!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 30/06/2019 12:59

I'm too lazy and II do it all in one.

The cream has acids and it moisturises, so OK with me. Fewer products, less packaging, cheaper.

onemouseplace · 30/06/2019 13:02

This is exactly what I do in summer. It's too greasy to put my feet straight into sandals/ flip flops.

I've never noticed that flexitol has a smell though!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/06/2019 13:04

I always recommend a pair of cotton socks to my patients . It stops it getting onto the sheets (especially if they;ve been overgenerous with the cream) and the warmth helps it absorb.

It's best applied on damp skin. Warm it up in your palm then apply .

I use anything I want to use up. Usually something like S&G (love the smell) but I used up some Steam Cream on my feet (don't like the smell- lavender)

The only thing I don't use is things like Liz Earle Superbalm. I had a shower the next day , when the hot water hit my feet I went on my bum Sad

florriepeck · 30/06/2019 16:09

I apply foot cream at night, then put cotton socks on: I bought a pack of three pairs from Amazon, but I think I've seen them in Boots, too.
They're designed for this purpose.

pinkstar01 · 30/06/2019 16:11

I would take an old clean towel and lay it at the foot of my bed, the duvet might still catch some but I put much less cream in the top of my feet anyways
