I need some clothes that don't look awful on!
I'm a size 16/18. Summer really brings it home that I don't like the way I look and need to try harder to change that but in the meantime what do people wear that looks ok?!

Personally shorts look horrid on me (fat legs), skirts ok sometimes but not preferred choice as get chub rub even with the anti chaffing cream, talc etc etc. Dresses are the same! Trousers can be hot this time of year. Leggings are ok but tops don't look great and it's hard to get a long top that adjusts well for BF. So really what do people wear?! Need some inspiration!

I always think bigger ladies look lovely in long bright coloured maxi dresses

Missed the chafing comment... get some cotton shorts (legging style) to wear under the dress to avoid chafing

Cycling shorts under skirts /dresses
Loose fitting dresses
Floaty trousers

So I'm the same as you but a couple of years ago I found some pants in UniQlo which have literally changed my life.

They are the shapewear shorts. Try do a reasonable job of holding you in without being uncomfortably tight and they don't roll up/down.

They're made of really light breathable material and completely eradicate chub rub making it possible for me to be comfortable in skirts and dresses.

Maxi dresses and linen trousers (not at the same time) are my go-to clothes in hotter weather. But you will have to find ones which suit you. Very.co.uk usually have a good range.

I have some of those lose fitting patterned trousers and they are so comfortable, but look nice too. M and S . Put them with a black T-shirt and it looks good.

Also, knee length/peddle pusher length leggings underneath a mini dress can work well.

By minidress I just mean any skirt/dress which other people might wear without any bottoms on but which would show horrible amounts of my enormous thighs on me.

Oh yeah Harem pants can be comfy and cool too. Personally I find the busy patterned ones more slimming on me. And don't be afraid to go up a size or two as I think they look more flattering when loose.

Thanks guys, I might order a lot of stuff I wouldn't normally try following your recommendations and see... I love bright colours etc but wouldn't normally do that on bottoms just tops. Maybe need try different stuff and I'll be surprised 😊

@hoolahoolahoop that's exactly how I used to be. I always felt like I didn't want to do bright colours or patterns on my bottom half because I didn't want to draw attention to it, but once I did, I realised that actually it can be slimming if you get it right because on me at least it helps to break up the big block of me there is. If that makes sense.

Give it a go. Good luck!

Have a look at Louise Pentland on social media. She's got two very popular YouTube channels and is a larger lady and always looks really lovely. Happy clothes shopping! The right clothes can make you feel amazing (& it really is all about th confidence regardless of what you weigh) Flowers

Agree with patterned hareems with a plain fitted but not too tight t-shirt it vest.(Personally I find Next hareems flattering)
