Has anyone tried any of the above? Are they any good? Do they protect you for a while? How bad is the VPL?

I am really tempted to try some but I am not sure which ones to go for, and as they are a bit pricey I would love some recommendations!

Thanks! Smile

@WizzyBee it’s got to be worth a try. I think they hold 2 tampons worth of blood, not sure how much that compares to a pad

There is a smell, just because you cannot smell it yourself doesn't mean others can't.

windandme · 30/09/2019 13:46

@MaidenMotherCrone Hmm

I’ve tried the Cheeky Wipes ones which work very well as others have said. However I don’t like the style/rise, I find them too low. I’ve tried the bikini and lace front ones.

Would prefer higher cut, does anyone have any recommendations please?

Wizzy Thinx do underwear for light incontinence, similar to period pants but apparently better suited to the task.

"period blood is no different to normal blood with no odour at all. "

That's just not true. (And normal blood has a smell too).

Dd uses modibodi - teachers have not always been sympathetic to period needs - and she has a ridiculously heavy flow - this has made her feel much more confident even on her heaviest days. Not sure about vpl - she doesn't mention that.

RandomMess · 30/09/2019 20:28

I'm planning on taking the plunge for my DDs, not looking forward to the cost Shock

I've got about 6 pairs of the cheeky wipes ones and have found them terrible! The elastic completely went in the lace tops after a few washes and the other style are badly fitting with no protection at the front. Never use them now which is annoying because I have to wear pads daily

Shitonthebloodything · 30/09/2019 21:01

Does anyone know how modibodi sizing comes up? I usually have to size up on underwear

Period pants have changed my life. They are amazing and don’t smell. I have Modibodi ones and WUKA ones - I prefer the latter - they are amazingly comfortable and absorbent. Have bought a little pair for DD in anticipation. Wish they had been around when I was a teenager.

TileFloors · 06/10/2019 19:48

Inspired by this thread I bought the cheeky wipes ones. They’re fab and I can’t believe I didn’t try this out earlier. True to size, the absorbency of a thick pad but much thinner and more comfortable, and because the padding goes from front to back, much more secure than a pad too.

They came right at the end of my period so I only wore them on a couple of light days but they were brilliant for that, especially when I wanted to go running. Next month I’ll experiment on heavier days, probably wear a reusable pad with them then take it out halfway through the day at work, or something.

I’ve just washed them and they seem to be drying fine on the radiator.

I’ve got Modibodi and they’re brilliant, got instead of the mooncup which I hated (and flushed down the loo while drunk)Blush. I use them on their own, one pair in the morning, another pair at night, no leaks, smells etc. Even better my 11 yr old started just days before her 11th birthday and I bought them for her, amazing! Black so she doesn’t see or smell the blood, they last all day so she doesn’t have to change anything at school (which was her biggest fear in primary school) so she can almost pretend it’s not happening (emotionally she really struggles with it all, she’s just too young). I put them in a covered bin and throw them into the wash with other dark items (no fabric conditioner) and they come out perfectly, dry on radiator or line. Game changer, especially for young girls, have recommended to the Mum of a friend of hers 10.5yrs old!) who thought the same
