Laceless black trainers

I am looking for laceless black trainers for 12 YO DD. She's been using skechers up until now but she's starting to become a little more fashion conscious. Any ideas? (don't want to ask her straight just yet)

Adidas have a slip on trainer section on their website.

chasingseagulls · 28/06/2019 08:46

Vans

TantricTwist · 28/06/2019 15:30

My DD 12 wears Nike air max and ties the laces in such a way they stay tied so she can just slip them on and off. I do the same with all my trainers. We basically just knot them at the top and do a double lace which never comes undone and we're good to go.

MrsSpenserGregson · 28/06/2019 15:33

I second Vans

I have a 12yo DD and she and all her friends are obsessed with them.

GenerationPolaroid · 28/06/2019 18:44

Oh thank you. Could you link me to the 'right' Vans please? Really don't want to get this wrong!

These www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/5,21/2496501158

or these www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/5,21/2496500133

My DD has the white slip-on ones www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/5,21/2496510102

and she and all her friends have these black lace-up ones with white laces www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/5,21/2482701158

There are loads of other colours and styles, and you can buy Vans in Foot Locker, Schuh etc so it's worth searching for the best price (Vans also has its own website)

There's a pink checked pair that I absolutely love (and which I may have tried on recently) but as a 47-year-old mum I'm not sure I can get away with them ...?!

MrsSpenserGregson · 28/06/2019 19:57

Oh my links didn't work!

Here are the white slip-ons www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/5,21/2496510102

MrsSpenserGregson · 28/06/2019 19:58

OK link still not working ... you'll have to copy and paste my links, sorry (they are copying fine when I test them, there's a problem when I past them onto MN!)

MrsSpenserGregson · 28/06/2019 19:58

Here you go, this might work - link to the slip-on section on the Vans website www.vans.co.uk/shop/en-gb/vans-gb/slip-on-shoes

GenerationPolaroid · 29/06/2019 10:43

Thank you for all the links.
I am not convinced that slip-ons are the way to go. I haven't seen any 12 year old wear them. Don't they look a bit like plimsolls?

If you don't mean slip-ons, what do you mean by laceless?

I think I mean something like this:www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/6/2683605940

Well all the 12-year-olds round here wear the slip-on Vans. The ones you've linked to aren't laceless!

Depends on whether your kid is into certain brands or not really

ranibowsprimkle · 29/06/2019 21:10

I would just get whatever laced trainers she wants and replace the laces with elastic laces like these

Any self respecting teenager with any interest in fashion would rather have their feet chopped off than wear any version of the Office ones you linked to OP.

This sounds to me like you are coming at this from your perspective and opinion. Have you shown your daughter the options from this thread or asked her to narrow down what she would like? Or give her free reign on the Office or Schuh website and get her to show you what she wants. I realise you are funding these shoes but at this age and onwards, you need to take their desires into account, appearance and social acceptance is crucial.

chasingseagulls · 30/06/2019 08:38

Just seen in your OP you don't want to ask her..then you are coming at this from the wrong angle, sorry. If she gives you options, you can still have a veto, but at least you are telling her her opinion matters. Sounds to me like you want to approve some options then make her choose from your selection. That will not bode well for future teenage fashion purchases!!

GenerationPolaroid · 30/06/2019 10:30

Actually chasingseagulls, I was hoping to impress my DD with my taste and knowledge to be able to get the 'right thing'!!

OP posts:
chasingseagulls · 30/06/2019 12:43

haha, OK point taken. But simply because in your OP you state she is becoming fashion conscious, to me that is the time to step away from choosing your children's clothes. The fact you are looking at styles rather than brand name first is the first mistake! (Sad but true). How about giving her the free reign to pick some choices, with a budget, then you can impress her with your style knowledge with some astute style observations, allowing you to veto what you hate but safe in the knowledge you're in the ballpark of what she likes. Also she thinks shes being allowed some fashion independence.
