There’s a yellow jumper up in the window of our local one that I really want.

MillicentMartha · 28/06/2019 16:21

Looks more like Peacocks than an upmarket brand. Confused

BenWillbondsPants · 28/06/2019 16:24

I've got a few things from OB and generally like their clothes, but I don't like any of those skirts. They all look cheap fabrics.

carla1983 · 28/06/2019 16:28

I'm balking more at £55 for a skirt!!

Shitonthebloodything · 28/06/2019 16:41

I'd love then if I could afford £50+ for a skirt

Allhailthesun · 28/06/2019 17:42

I’m with you Op. All of those look very middle aged and can be easily purchased at you nearest vintage shop.

In fact I think fashion designers wait until charity shops throw out a fashion as it hasn’t sold in years and re launch it.

I quite like the pleats ( hate the pastel colours) but theres a reason they go out of fashion very quickly every time.

AnthonyCrowley · 28/06/2019 19:29

My on trend 18yo dd would wear a lot of those. However she would neither shop at Oliver Bonas nor spend that sort of money on clothes.

I always thought Oliver Bonas was aimed at 30-40 year old.....? But I'd say these clothes are aimed at a younger market?

Supersimpkin · 28/06/2019 19:34

Oh, I love them all.

INeedNewShoes · 28/06/2019 19:41

I used to buy all my dresses at Oliver Bonas precisely because they didn't follow ridiculous trends and they used good quality cotton for most of them.

The cut of them was good and they've coped with ten years of me wearing and washing them.

Unfortunately it looks like yet another shop to embrace polyester and general tackiness.

@BenWillbondsPants & @TheCatThatDanced very slow reply sorry - I meant to be lighthearted myself, I just missed out the appropriate emojis to make it so Grin

But I still think your OP is odd because I thought online shopping was about ignoring the vast amount of stuff which is not to one's taste? And OB has always been bright/random/mixed, hasn't it? It's kind of why occasionally their stuff works - for me anyway.

...off to check out local OB sale (though not the skirts, obvs)....

Wormentrude · 30/06/2019 12:10

I love that rainbow midi. If a-line midi skirts didn't make me look like I'm shaped like a pylon, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

growlingbear · 30/06/2019 12:19

I love nearly all of them, especially that yellow botanical one and the rainbow midi.

Rickytickytembo · 30/06/2019 12:56

Oh I'd forgotten about Oliver Bonas! (No longer in the UK). That just cost me £135 BlushSmile thanks OP!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/06/2019 15:35

Their fabrics are appalling. I often see a print or colour I like, but once I've touched it, leap away in horror.

TheCatThatDanced · 01/07/2019 13:36

AnthonyCrowley

The vast majority of people I see in my local OB's (Victoria station and East Dulwich) tend to be at Victoria - 20s to 40s. maybe late 20's but def that range.

I did see a seller on Ebay selling very OB style earrings but styling them 'Marni style' and I'm sure they've got pulled now. But OB's earrings are mass produced Chinese plastic. I still luffs them though.

I like some of them and buy a lot of clothes from OB for work! Practical and modest, sometimes colourful and fun.
They are cheap fabrics but for the price they wash well and the things I have bought keep their shape and don’t go holey etc. At those prices I don’t mind if they get a bit wrecked at work really.
