I feel like I need a change with my hair but I'm not sure what to do. It is currently shoulder length, and quite thick. It has a natural wave, so I try and use some of the curly girl principles (sulfate and silicon free shampoo/conditioner, microfiber towel, no heat) and I also put some argan oil through it after washing. On the days that I've washed it I am really happy with it once it's dried (naturally), it is bouncy, wavy, full but not too frizzy. But that's only once or twice a week. The rest of the time I have to brush it in the morning because it is too messy not to, and I lose all the wave and just end up with straight, thick hair with no shape. I've tried dampening it to restore the wave but it just dries it out and makes it frizzier and messier. (I have photos to upload but I'm not sure how to scribble over them to hide my face). I'm having it cut tomorrow and I'm not sure if a different cut would help, I fancy something fairly short and layered, but not sure if that would help.

For context, for work my hair has to be either up or above my shoulders, I am morbidly obese so need something which frames my face as otherwise I look like a pinhead. I don't want to spend more than 5 mins or so sorting my hair in the morning.

Any thoughts?

Mine is wavy/curly, but fine and sleeping on it ruins it...

So I clip up the roots and put a buff on to sleep, keeps the waves and all I do in the morning is let it all down again.

Could you take a photo holding something in front of your face? It's hard to picture your hair without a picture! (I too would have no idea how to scribble out my face before uploading a photo!)

How's this? This is on a 'non-wash' day - yesterday, after washing, the waves were more defined and less frizzy.

Don’t use a brush, use a wide tooth comb instead. Try to comb it as little as possible, manage it with your fingers.
Dampening dry hair down tends to make it frizz more. There are finishing sprays with oils that protect against frizzing. In between shampoos try a light spray.
