Hair Dye Help!!

Firefly111 · 25/06/2019 20:13

So after never having dyed my hair the time has come to dip my toe in! I'm just getting too much grey now and really want to do something about it, i just have no idea where to start!

I don't have the budget to go to a salon so will need to be a DIY job! There are so many out there though i wonder if anyone can recommend any/give me some do's and don'ts? My natural colour is dark ginger/auburn and id really like to keep along these lines, not looking to change the colour just cover my greys! I appreciate there will be some difference and i am not going to get a exact match.

I had seen a Garnier Nutrisse one in Natural Light Red that i thought would be okay but having read reviews most people who are already red heads have said its left their hair brown!!! Please help!

try this dye here. if you scroll down to the reviews section, people have posted what colour it left their hair and it seems to be what you are going for x

Honestly, home colouring can be unpredictable and risky which is why I save the bother and go to a salon!

The colour on the front of the box may not correspond to what you actually achieve. If you’re deciding between two colours, I’d go for the lighter colour just in case it ends up being darker than you like.

Be careful about applying the dye near your scalp as you may end up with ‘hot roots’ where the hair around your scalp looks lighter and more warm then the rest of your hair. Would be better to apply the colour to the scalp after you have let it develop through the lengths for a bit

Also unfortunately your grey hair may end up not perfectly matching the rest of your hair as it’s a lighter base colour

After many years of trying to find the right shade , I recently discovered Nice and Easy Golden Auburn. Looks exactly like the box and has not faded fast likes so many others I have tried. Would definitely recommend. Has also left my curly hair in the best condition it has been for quite a while.

When you find a colour that suits make sure you buy Paraben free shampoo and conditioner. Paraben s strip the hair of hair dyes

Go for a Nice & Easy up to 24-washes one or Castings.
Use shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair. Go easy on the shampooing.
It fades so not as noticeable as having different colour roots after a few weeks,
