an spf moisturiser that doesn't sting if it gets in your eyes?!

I spent the day blinded and probably with mascara half way down my face. I didn't stick my fingers in my eyes by accident. I just managed to get a tiny bit of spf 15 in my eyes.

Please can somebody recommend one that doesn't kill you if you get it in your eye!

I can’t help you but interested to see the response - I feel your pain as I get it too! Not the Aldi one, it’s cheap but it gets in your eyes and also tastes weird

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/06/2019 18:54

I use Natio for Men and I've managed to get it in my eye a few times because I put it on my eyelids. It's mildly stingy for a while, no tears or blindness.

Superdrug Anti Aging Face Fluid SPF 30 costs about £7

La Roche posay do a 'sensitive eyes' spf. Only thing I can use

Why do you put it in your eyes? Blush

Lamentations · 25/06/2019 22:27

The Cerave one doesn't sting. Avoid the Boots Your Good Skin one as it leaks into your eyes and stings like buggery which is a shame because I bought three tubes on a 3 for 2.

LoeweHammockBuyItDoIt · 25/06/2019 22:40

@lamentations no way, it was the Boots ''your good skin'' one that had me blinded today! I thought it was a bargain. SPF 30, aimed at a more mature skin perhaps, I think I got three for the price of two as well but luckily I picked two night ones (which are fine!) and only one of this tear gas stuff.

Indeed labs 'defense30'

I wear two different moisturisers. I put Simple lotion around my eyes, then SPF moisturiser /CC cream over the rest of my face and neck . I always wear sunglasses when it's sunny, and normal glasses otherwise, so I would think the skin round my eyes is out of sun anyway.

Smellslikebiscuits · 25/06/2019 22:58

I love the Roche-Posay anti Helios anti-shine SPF50 one.
I put it all over my face, including eyelids, and no stinging.
There’s usually an offer on in Boots.

PregnantOnPurpose · 25/06/2019 23:02

Sorry I couldnt resist Grin

still questioning why you out moisturiser in your eyes

instructions: apply X amount all over faced, avoiding direct contact with eyes

applies moisturiser to eyes

I use the 'simple' face wash, toner and moisturising. They work wonders for me as they have no perfumes.. but I dont think they have an spf either..

Light be a silly question but could you use a tinted moisturiser, or BB cream? They often have SPF in them and give you a nice glow at the same time Halo

winnerwiner · 25/06/2019 23:13

At the splurge end of things, I use josie maran spf 47 daily moisturiser, it’s pricy but brilliant. Plus Kate Somerville does a spray one which is spf 50 and you can spray it on after applying makeup! India knight recently rated it highly in one of her reviews. I only use them through
The summer here (Canada) when it’s hot going back to olay in the winter, I don’t spend a ton on any other beauty stuff but feel like it’s justifiable because I am really pale, it will be 30c all summer and skin cancer runs in the family. Anything sheisheido is also fantastic. I definitely get the burning eyes thing when it gets hot and sweaty (and no I don’t put it directly in my eyes!

Biore watery essence spf 50 works for my mega sensitive face/eyes.

VanillaSugarr · 26/06/2019 06:38

The Body Shop has a type of serum which you put over moisturiser. I went into Space NK and found it very hard to find a moisturiser which contained an SPF which prompted my search.

The BodyShop one is sPF20 and you put it on over your moisturiser. I have very sensitive skin and it doesn’t sting (although I haven’t put it in my eyes though 😂)

I share your pain. I’ve accidentally put too much moisturiser too close to my inner eye and it does work itself in.

Hello everyone - in case it helps, we have a round-up of SPFs Mumsnetters have recommended over the last few months which may just help you choose.

VanillaSugarr · 28/06/2019 22:38

Thanks HannahF!

For years I suffered from streaming eyes during summer holidays, always assumed I had somehow managed to get suncream in my eyes. I eventually realised my eyes were sensitive to suncreams so did some research and now only ever use La Roche Posay Anthelios on my face and no more problems.

I literally used to have this last all week, ruining my makeup and eventually making the skin around the eye red and sore to touch and it would really ruin my holidays. It occasionally happens now if I've put other suncream on the kids and maybe rubbed my face or something but if I take care and always wash my hands immediately after using regular suncreams I don't have any problems.

So I would urge you to consider whether you have sensitive skin / allergies as it's unlikely that you are repeatedly getting suncream actually in your eye.
