Eye overhang - pics

Any idea why the eye overhangs like this. It's kind of dropped, obviously an age thing. But only one of my eyes, the other is fine.

I wondered if there could be a reason? To do with sleeping on one side (long shot).

Is there anything to be done? Make up, creams? Surgery (not that bad yet I don't think).

I'm not sure.

I have never had this problem. It opens up my eyes really nicely.

I use a registered plastic surgeon for my Botox. I don't know if this helps ?
When I went initially 10 years ago, I told him what I wanted / didn't want.
He understood and has never made a mistake.

This happens to me when I'm tired, then the eyeliner transfers to the hooded bit. It's annoying

RagingWhoreBag · 25/06/2019 15:11

As it’s just one eye it could be a nerve thing - I was referred to a neurologist for a similar thing, although mine isn’t hooded as such, just closes more than the other. Turns out my pupils are slightly different sizes too. I have something called Horners syndrome - I now have to have an X-ray to make sure there’s nothing in my neck/chest blocking the nerve from brain to eyelid (apparently it doesn’t go from your brain to your eye, it goes down your spine, then back up to your eye - Who knew?!)

Definitely worth a mention to your GP - my optician totally missed it but GP got very excited about it Grin

And neurologist said don’t let anyone near your eyelid with a scalpel unless as a last resort if it’s affecting your vision, it can make things worse!

Aargh I have hooded eyelids and I hate them

I've had them since I was a child it makes top eyeliner or eyeshadow pointless, can't do winged eyeliner and it fucks me off

However I have had Botox (not just for the eyelids, mostly for just a fresher look ) and coincidentally it helped a little bit but if you go down that road make sure you choose someone reputable

I have this, but its worse, well mine looks worse, especially in photos, it looks like one side of my entire face is falling.

Thing is, its really more so only on one side and I am sure it was made worse AFTER botox - but i didn't have botox for cosmetic reasons, i had botox for migraines and i had two rounds and both times, my eyebrows drooped so low, that my eyelids disappeared, i couldn't wear eyeliner or mascara as the mascara went straight on the upper eyelid. It didn't improve my migraines either! So I'm left with one eyebrow slightly higher than the other and one eyelid really droopy. I've tried some of the eye tape but i couldn't get it to stick properly and you could see it. I've also tried false eyelashes to see it they would 'help' but i'm so cack handed i just cannot get the hang of them.

I don't know about the botox, my experience has really put me off, it felt like i had a brick embedded in my forehead and i hated not being able to move my forehead, however, in saying that, the injection sites for migraines are different to the sites they use for cosmetic purposes, so perhaps for something like this, it could help? I just can't help thinking it left me with wonky eyebrows!

PaulinesPenStash · 25/06/2019 17:13

@youvegottobekidding that sounds awful! Surely it shouldn't do that even if not for cosmetic reasons

princessTiasmum · 25/06/2019 23:01

If it affects your peripheral vision you can have it done on the nhs,
I was referred by my optician then Dr to the hospital,
The surgeon said it isnt my eyelid it is my brow that has dropped, so giving me a partial brow lift, but probably because it could have been caused by bells palsy i had a few years ago,
The surgeon will take some skin out of my eyelid and lift my brow, at the same time
I will be able to wear eyeshadow again, yay,
I am older than you though i think, having it done next month,
Will go in at 8am and hoe for lunch

Thanks all, I've ordered some strips. Mixes reviews but I remain hopeful.

I'll post an update when I have tried them
