Are you/Is your style androgynous?

As the title says really. I am often regarded as such due to my body shape and style of dress.

Keen to find out if others are the same and to pick up any style tips!

I’m not androgynous in body shape, but my style is androgynous.

I’d say:

  1. Pick a colour palette of 3 or 4 colours and stick to it- 2 main and 1 or 2 accent.
  2. Go for higher quality and lower quantity.
  3. Cut is everything, no fussy detailing. I stick to pared back, classic shapes, almost minimalist but not too conceptual.

Nope and nope. Hyperfeminine for me - I'm a slim hourglass and androgynous clothing looks awful on me.

I'm wearing it the second time around - the last time was the 80s when I did have a very androgynous body but these days I'm still slim but have boobs and hips. So I've modified it a bit:

V necks rather than a round neck.
A silk shirt looks softer than a cotton one. (I buy them second hand so not as ££ as it sounds.)
Grey rather than black.
I'm more careful about fit as oversize doesn't look quite as good on me these days.
I agree with Zazie about cut and fabric. The clothes are more pared down so you can't disguise shoddy quality with patterns or frills.
Good underwear.
And no more (neck)ties, which is a shame as I used to have a good collection but they look a bit too close to fancy dress this time.

I think I like to mix in androgynous with other things. I have quite an androgynous body shape but long curly hair which is quite feminine.

I agree about the colour palette, quality over quantity, menswear inspired styles. Personally, I play with masculine/feminine styles so I might add a silk shirt (as flo says, waves), accessories and jewellery, though that tends to be on the chunkier, simpler, less girly side.

I'm hourglass shape but dress androgynous, jeans, shirts, plain jumpers or hoodies
