Two lovely friends have booked this for a treat for me and I'm looking forward to it, but what on earth should I wear? I live in London so can access quite a lot of shops. I'm size 18/20, hate my upper arms and have no proper waist. Legs are ok. I'm 40 and really don't want to look frumpy. Would like to blend in. Any ideas? Has anyone been there recently and can tell me what they wore?

I have been several times although not very recently. It’s summer dress - obviously with sleeves if you prefer. Or a trouser suit. Or jump suit. Of wear a smart tunic top over well cut trousers. You don’t have to look like you are going to Royal Ascot! Be comfortable and, truly, it’s quite a big room and no one is judging you. Just wear smart day clothes and you will be fine!

I’ve been a few times, over summer most of the women are in summery dresses and heels so it doesn’t have to be super smart - trousers and top would also be fine. Just think what you’d wear to go to a nice bar or restaurant in the summer. It doesn’t have to be full on formal. You could always wear a blazer or jacket over the outfit if you want to cover your arms.

The men look smarter because their dress code is jacket and tie, for women it’s basically just no jeans, no sportswear.

I’m always banging on about them on here - go to John Lewis for a session with one of their style advisers. They don’t charge and the ones I have used are great at getting me to try new looks and things that I would never have dreamt of trying on.

Enjoy your treat day.
