Hi dear MNs. The time has come for me to de fuzz my bum fluff top lip. I'm fair haired so it's not exactly a tash but I want rid. And I want to do it myself at home. Any tried and tested products please?

I use an epilator on mine. It makes my eyes water but anything is better than looking like a blonde catfish. Or you could teach yourself to thread? That's easy to do at home and all you need is some cotton.

NannyR · 23/06/2019 20:39

I was recommended a springy thing (sorry, not sure of the actual name of the product!!). It was about £3 for two of them on Amazon and they work really well.

crustycrab · 23/06/2019 20:43

Nair

ForeignBodies · 23/06/2019 20:46

Threading. It hurts but takes a minute. It’s cheap. Every six weeks works for me and I’m dark haired, so you’d probably be able to go longer. and it’s cheap.

Georgiemcgeorgeface · 23/06/2019 20:48

Thank you. I'm not sure I'm up for pain!! Ha. @crustycrab is their a special face Nair?!

There's a sensitive face one. You can get it in body care. Takes about 3 minutes and doesn't hurt

ursuslemonade · 23/06/2019 20:58

Nair face cream. I used to wax it for years but I was told waxing will damage the delicate skin and will cause lines....
Mind you the cream burns me so I'm probably not much better off...

Georgiemcgeorgeface · 23/06/2019 21:13

Righto off to boots I go tomorrow. Thank you for the tips

Ow ow ow nair sensitive facial is burning my lips off! I tested it on my chin, no problems. Now I've got kitchen roll from the freezer on my lips. My hair free lips though! Woohoo

Hair removal cream used to occasionally burn my lip - not every time, but when it did it left an awful red, blistery mark which lasted a good few days. Ditch the cream and buy yourself an epiwand or hair removal wand from Amazon. So easy to use and no reaction or redness.

redglobox · 24/06/2019 19:55

The Philips IPL thing. I can’t remember what it’s called but it’s amazing. Expensive but gives you smooth skin for weeks, dwindling hair growth even then and no pain (I’m a wimp).

Georgiemcgeorgeface · 24/06/2019 19:56

Ohhhh I hope I don't get blisters or redness I've gotta go to work tomorrow!

Lumea! Just saw the other thread on it. Worth every penny to be tash free Grin

Beamur · 24/06/2019 19:59

Be brave.
Get it waxed. Hurts briefly but gives a good result and hair free for longer!

AskMeHow · 24/06/2019 20:01

I use a springy thing. Does make your eyes water a bit but it takes seconds to do.

dicdicnurse · 24/06/2019 20:03

I love the springy thing too Smile

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 24/06/2019 20:06

I use one of those springy things too.

Has anyone got any tips for lessening the pain?

It's ok around my chin, jowls etc but the bit immediately under my nose hurts like fuck when I do it

GreyHare · 24/06/2019 20:13

Ohmygodtheykilledkenny after the second or third pass I find my top lip becomes immune to the pain, it's just the first couple that hurt and then it's fine.

redglobox a Lumea won't work on blonde hair, it hasn't worked for me at all as I'm too light haired.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 24/06/2019 20:15

I become immune on all the other areas but never on that bit unfortunately.

GardenWoes231 · 24/06/2019 20:16

Just dermaplane! Fancy word for shaving.

You’re lucky to be blonde, mine are black and this is the easiest way - totally pain free and takes seconds not minutes.

And I never ever ever have stubble before someone says! You just do two flicks of the razor each morning and jobs a gooden!

TenSheets · 24/06/2019 20:18

I use one of those Flawless things (it's a rotary shaver basically but it's great and Nair etc used to burn my face). Look it up on Amazon.

TenSheets · 24/06/2019 20:19

Finishing Touch Flawless is it's name.

faeriesandelves · 24/06/2019 20:33

Dermaplane. Buy them off amazon

mumdom · 24/06/2019 21:13

I taught myself to thread mine using a video on Youtube. If you put a slick of baby oil on the skin before threading, the thread still grips the hairs but glides over the skin, so hurts much less.

Waxing and creams made my upper lip so sun-sensitive I’d get a skin moustache in the summer despite wearing sunscreen.

user1471453601 · 24/06/2019 21:15

Nono, it doesn't hurt and it's got rid of my mustache. It worked in my legs and arms too
